CM Chouhan holds meeting of Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme Task Force Committee
Bhopal 02 June 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that such a scheme should be made for the farmers in the state so that they can get the compensation amount at the earliest and without any hassle in case of crop damage. For this, after studying the models of different states, the best scheme should be made for the state.
Chief Minister Chouhan was taking a meeting of Task Force Committee constituted for the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme at Mantralaya today. Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary Manoj Govil and Principal Secretary Ajit Kesari etc. were present.
Better use of technology must be ensured
Chief Minister Chouhan directed that modern technologies like remote sensing data, drones etc. should be used in assessment of crop risk and yield loss etc.
At present, only 40 percent of farmers have availed benefit
At present, only 40 percent of the farmers of the state are getting the benefit of crop insurance scheme. Not all farmers get the benefit of crop insurance scheme being optional. The crop-area wise coverage is also only 50 percent (about 70 lakh).
