Demands central government to lift lustre less wheat
Bhopal 16 June 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today called on Union Minister of Railways, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal in Delhi today. During the meeting, Chief Minister Chouhan demanded that under the difficult circumstances of the second wave of Corona in the state this year the lacklustre wheat of the farmers should be lifted. He informed that this year also 128.16 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured in the state and full credit goes to the farmers.
Chief Minister Chouhan informed that the untimely rains in different districts of the state, has resulted in the condition of lacklustre wheat in 26 districts of the state, but its nutrients and quality remains intact. Chouhan informed that the central government has given permission to procure up to 10 percent lacklustre wheat. Chief Minister Chouhan urged that due to untimely rains, the percentage of lacklustreness has increased from 10 to 80 percent in the state, which has been procured in the interest of farmers. He urged that the central government should get 80 lakh metric tonnes of wheat lifted by the Food Corporation of India at the earliest, so that the problem of storage does not arise. He said that due to the limited consumption of wheat in the Public Distribution System in the state in the last years, there is a possibility of more time consumption in the disposal of the procured lacklustre wheat. Therefore, like in the previous years, this year also, permission to take delivery of the lacklustre wheat should be given to the Food Corporation of India at the earliest.
