Demolished infrastructure to be re-built in flood-hit districts, task force will be formed

Bhopal 06 August 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that necessary assistance will be given on priority to people in the districts of the state where there has been loss of life and property due to excessive rains and floods. Ahead of the Cabinet meeting in Mantralaya today, Chief Minister Chouhan informed that floods have caused a lot of damage in some districts of the state. The state government will leave no stone unturned in providing relief. In view of the seriousness of the situation, a task force will be formed by involving various departments for the purpose of relief work for the public. The task force will include ministers additional chief secretaries and principal secretaries. Different department like urban administration, panchayat and rural development, public works, water resources, health, public health engineering, energy, revenue, agriculture and animal husbandry will also be part of the task force. Necessary arrangements will be made to restore the infrastructure As much as. 50 kg additional food grains will be provided to the flood affected families.

Package for flood affected

Chief Minister Chouhan said that package will be announced for the flood affected and full help will be provided to them. Prime Minister Modi has also assured that all possible assistance will be provided. People whose houses have been destroyed, will be provided financial aid under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for which convergence with MNREGA will also be done. Rs one lakh 20 thousand will be arranged per housing unit. At present, such people will be provided assistance of a lump sum amount of Rs 6 thousand, to take a house on rent elsewhere or to get their damaged house repaired. Rs 4 lakh will be given to those families who have suffered untimely death of any member. Instructions are also being given for the arrangement of food grains.

Have never seen such a terrible disaster in my life

Chief Minister Chouhan said that he has visited the flood affected areas in the districts of Gwalior and Chambal divisions. He had never seen such a terrible disaster in his life. Many houses were destroyed in this disaster. Piles of rubble are visible in the affected areas. Food grains and other essential items have been damaged along with household items. Cattle have also been washed away. The infrastructure has also been damaged. Electric transformers and poles have been uprooted. There is evidence of terrible destruction. Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is relieving that many lives could be saved due to timely rescue action. The destruction is massive but we will put in our best. Ministers are also doing their best in the affected areas. Administrative team is also active in every district. No stone will be left unturned in relief work. It is our resolve to bring out the citizens from the disaster.

Ration distribution programme

Chief Minister Chouhan said that no change is being made in the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana programme, which is being held on Saturday, August 7. Except for the flood affected districts, the remaining districts will have the same activities. This programme will be as per schedule. In the flood-affected districts of Shivpuri, Sheopur, Guna, Datia, Bhind, Morena and Gwalior, only ration will be distributed to the consumers in view of the local conditions. There will be no other programmes in these districts. Since preparations were being made for this programme for a long time, this programme related to the welfare of the poor will be the same as in the rest of the districts. 50 kg additional food grains will be given to the flood affected families. This will be in addition to the 10 kg food grains that were available earlier.

Will send preliminary survey report to the center, and detailed report later

Chief Minister Chouhan said that a report is being sent to the central government after preliminary survey. After this, a detailed report of the damage caused by the floods will also be sent. Every department has been asked to play an active role so that citizens get maximum assistance as per their eligibility. The major flood affected districts are Shivpuri, Sheopur, Guna, Datia, Gwalior, Bhind and Morena.

CM expresses gratitude to army and disaster relief teams

Chief Minister Chouhan thanked all the individuals and agencies engaged in rescue operation for saving the lives of the people in the flood affected areas. Chief Minister Chouhan expressed his gratitude to the Army, Air Force, Home Guard, SDRF, NDRF, local administration, in-charge and local ministers for playing an active role in rescue operations through boats and helicopters. Chief Minister Chouhan said that while Dr. Narottam Mishra remained active in Datia, Mahendra Singh Sisodia and Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia in Guna and Shivpuri, Tulsi Silavat and Pradyumna Singh Tomar in Gwalior, Bharat Singh in Sheopur and Morena, Arvind Bhadauria in Bhind and OPS Bhadauria remained active throughout. All of them worked very hard to rescue to the flood victims and are still engaged in relief work.

Will help affected people with the help of social organizations

Chief Minister Chouhan said that with the help of social institutions and public cooperation, the flood affected will be provided relief. Chief Minister Chouhan informed that following the appeal, trucks have left from Gwalior to Sheopur yesterday. Food packets will be delivered to the affected persons through social organizations. Along with this, dry grains will also be distributed. Chief Minister Chouhan said that in-charge and local ministers should monitor the completion of such works.
It is easier to reach provide such assistance from big towns to villages. Chief Minister Chouhan appealed that ready food should also be supplied to the people of nearby villages. Crisis Management Committees should also be fast in providing help to people. District, block and village level committees will be engaged in relief and rehabilitation work.

Take precautions against Corona

In his address before the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Chouhan said that the precautions taken earlier to prevent Corona should be maintained in all the districts. Use of masks and mutual distance should be ensured. Micro-containment areas should be created in the districts where positive cases are cropping up. Crisis Management Committees should remain alert.
