Bhopal 09 August 2021: Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that regulatory commissions should play an effective role in protecting the interest of students in private universities. The problem solving process should be transparent and effective. Redressal should be ensured within the time limit. The Commission should actively cooperate in the role of coordinator and guide in this work for effective implementation of National Education Policy in private universities.

Governor Patel was reviewing the Private University Regulatory Commission at Raj Bhavan today. Principal Secretary to Governor D.P. Ahuja, Additional Secretary Manoj Khatri, Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission Bharat Sharan Singh, Secretary Dr. K.P. Sahu and other officials were present.

Governor Mangubhai Patel said that the Commission should monitor the academic calendar of private universities. It should be ensured that the examinations are held on time. The evaluation work should be completed within the stipulated time period. Also, examinations results should be declared on time. He said that year wise information about the number of students studying in the university and comparative placement status should also be maintained. Placement cells should be set up in all universities. He also told the need to make online arrangements for problem solving of students studying in private universities and working teachers.

Governor Patel also discussed the efforts to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio. He said that planned efforts should be made to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education in the areas and sections where it is low. He expressed happiness that the male-female gross enrollment ratio is equal in the state. He also stressed the need for special focus on quality of education. He directed private universities to collaborate with universities to implement the National Education Policy.

The Governor said that attention should be paid to the improvement of existing courses, research and innovation in the context of the National Education Policy. Efforts should be made to increase access to education for deprived and disabled students by setting up scholarship funds by industries, private charitable institutions, conducting courses through online medium. Focus should also be on expanding works of faculty up-skills and motivation. According to the National Education Policy, effective efforts should be made to integrate the inter-subject courses with the existing courses.
