CM Chouhan and Union Minister Scindia pay tribute on birth anniversary
Bhopal 18 August 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Civil and Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia paid homage to the brave son of Mother India, Peshwa Bajirao (First) on his birth anniversary today at Raverkhedi, his memorial site. Chief Minister Chouhan said that today he has become blessed by coming to this holy place. Mother India has given birth to many heroes. Bajirao Peshwa is one among them.
Remembering former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Chief Minister Chouhan said that Late Vajpayee had said that this country is not just a piece of land for us, it is a living form of mother. Chief Minister Chouhan said that we worship the monolithic form of Mother India. Referring to the Partition Horrors Remembrance day, cited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that we had got fragmented freedom. Lahore of Luv Kush, Adhura Punjab, Hinglaj Maiyya and Dhakeshwari Devi’s temple are all beyond our borders today. Many heroes including Veer Bajirao Peshwa had sacrificed their lives for the protection, unity and integrity of Mother India.
Chief Minister Chouhan repeated many instances of Bajirao Peshwa’s valour. He said that lessons of bravery and valour, war skills and strategy of Veer Bajirao are also taught in foreign military institutions. He said that Bajirao had returned the kingdom of Maharaja Chhatrasal after winning the war. When he reached Delhi, Aurangzeb’s grandson was stupefied. The valour of Bajirao Peshwa, the strategic prowess of the Nizam’s siege is recorded in golden letters in history.
Outline for the restoration and expansion of Veer Bhoomi prepared
Chief Minister Chouhan said that, he has made a complete roadmap for the restoration and expansion of this heroic land along with Culture Minister Sushri Usha Thakur. He said that only Maratha crafts would be used in all the construction work being done here. A shelter will be built for tourists coming here and for the devotees who perform parikrama of Mother Narmada.
Raverkhedi is an emotional destination for me: Union Minister Scindia
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that he is emotionally attached to Raverkhedi. His ancestors had built the tomb of Bajirao Peshwa here. Scindia said that when foreign invaders were trying to invade Mother India from all sides in the medieval period, at that time the brave Marathas fought courageously to save the pride of India for 150 years. Veer Shivaji never bowed before the Mughals. The saffron flag of the Hindavi Empire was hoisted by the Marathas from Attock to Cuttack. Scindia said that Britishers spoiled the word Peshwa, the correct pronunciation of Peshwa is Peshwe. He also urged that Maratha crafts should be used in the entire construction to be undertaken at Raverkhedi. According to the tradition of Marathas, the base of every construction should be with black stones. Culture Minister Sushri Usha Thakur said that a plan was made for the restoration and development of the Samadhi site of Bajirao Peshwa at Raverkhedi. Chief Minister Chouhan gave his prompt approval. As per his desire, Raverkhedi is moving towards creating a new identity.
CM offers prayer to Maa Narmada through a jharokha
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia offered prayers to Lord Shiva at the Samadhi Sthal and paid floral tributes at the Samadhi of Peshwa Bajirao. The guests offered prayers to Maa Narmada from the parkota built at the Samadhi site.
Raverkhedi, located in Sanawad tehsil of Khargone district, today witnessed an atmosphere full of enthusiasm and emotion. Villagers decorated the village with saffron coloured flags. The Samadhi of Bajirao Peshwa I is built in Raverkhedi village, situated on the banks of Maa Narmada. He was born on this day in the year 1700. He died when he merely 40 on 18 April, 1740 at this place.
During the time of the IVth Maratha Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, in the year 1720, he was given the post of Peshwa i.e. Prime Minister. Today the chhatri in which this emotional event took place is also called Vrindavan.
