Bhopal 20 August 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that airstrips will be built in every district of the state to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of connecting small towns by air. Also, necessary arrangements will be made to connect the districts with UDAN. Chief Minister Chouhan today launched new IndiGo flights from Jabalpur to Delhi, Indore and Mumbai through video conference with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Chief Minister Chouhan also requested Union Minister Scindia to name Jabalpur Airport after Rani Durgavati. Chief Minister Chouhan said that this would be an honour of the sentiments of the people.
Chief Minister Chouhan attended the virtual programme from the residence. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation General V.K. Singh joined the programme from New Delhi. National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, State Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silawat, Tourism Minister Sushri Usha Thakur and Jabalpur MP Rakesh Singh also took part virtually.
New air services
On Friday August 20, new air service from Jabalpur to Mumbai and Delhi will start and flights from Jabalpur to Hyderabad and Indore will be available from 28 August. Similarly, air service from Indore to Mumbai and Jabalpur will also start from August 28.
424 to 588 flights per week in the state
Chief Minister Chouhan has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve is that even a citizen wearing Hawai Chappal should have access to air travel facility. We want this to begin in India as soon as possible. The UDAN scheme is an attempt to realize this resolve. Union Civil Aviation Minister Scindia is engaged in fulfilling this objective with full dedication and dynamism. When Union Minister Scindia took charge, 424 flights per week were being operated from different places of Madhya Pradesh, but now it has increased to 588 per week.
Special cooperation to Madhya Pradesh regarding air facility
Chief Minister Chouhan urged Union Minister Scindia to extend special cooperation to Madhya Pradesh in starting air service in small towns. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Jabalpur is very rich in tourism, culture and historical point of view as well as industrial and commercial sectors.
Air connectivity must for industrial development
Chief Minister Chouhan said that air connectivity is must for investment. With better air connectivity in Jabalpur, industrial and economic development of the area will take place and tourists will also get facilities. The state government has transferred more than 730 acres of land for the expansion of Jabalpur airport.
Indore has potential to become the growth engine of the country
Chief Minister Chouhan said that there is a need to connect Indore with international flights. Indore is the cleanest city and the first water plus city in the country. It is an important city not only in Madhya Pradesh but also in Central India. Indore has the potential to become the growth engine of the country.
Madhya Pradesh will be a developed and prosperous state
Chief Minister Chouhan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Scindia for the ongoing efforts to increase air connectivity in the state. Chief Minister Chouhan said that our government is determined to make Madhya Pradesh a developed and prosperous state.
Target to set up 1000 air routes and 100 airports by 2025
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that a plan of Rs 421 crore has been approved for the expansion of the airport in Jabalpur. Terminal building construction, ATC tower and runway length extension will be completed by December 2022. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has made a significant contribution to the democratization of civil aviation services. The UDAN scheme aims at setting up 1000 air routes and one hundred airports by 2025. Out of these, 363 routes and 59 airports have already been set up. Union Minister Scindia said that 2300 acres of land is required for airport expansion in Indore. Union Minister Scindia said that it is our resolve to connect every citizen with air services.

Singh, State Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, Jabalpur MP Rakesh Singh, BJP National Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya also addressed the programme.
