Bhopal 05 September 2021: Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that Anganwadis and primary schools are the centers for building the future generation. It is necessary that Anganwadi workers and Sahayikas should make efforts to increase awareness about mother-child health through the use of common language. They should motivate and train children to inculcate good habits. Governor Patel was addressing the virtual meeting of Madhya Pradesh Bal Kalyan Parishad from Raj Bhavan today. The Vice-Chairpersons and office bearers of the Council and members of the executive committee were present in the meeting.

Governor Mangubhai Patel has asked the Council to take the initiative of honoring boys and girls with gallantry awards. He stated the need of efforts to provide opportunities to showcase the talents of the children. He said that children have infinite hidden potential in them. They need to be nurtured and given proper guidance. Anganwadi workers, Sahayikas and primary school teachers have an important role in this work.   Citing a related incident, he said that a teacher couple from Kutch area of Gujarat constructed the boundary wall of a school with trees without any particular means and resources, thus instilling the values of protecting the environment in 350 children of the school. He said that the teacher couple asked the children of the school to plant one sapling each on the boundary of the school and said that this plant is yours. It is your responsibility to take care of it. They made the children collect water used to wash vegetables in their houses in a vessel and water the plant in the school with it. This initiative created a wall of greenery around the school. He said that the Covid period has given a lesson about the importance of trees for oxygen and vice versa. Public awareness regarding planting and taking care of trees should be spread on a wide scale.

Governor Patel said that the tendency to consider bad health of children as their destiny is not justified. Efforts should be made to change this tendency. Malnutrition and non-breastfeeding of children are the causes of poor health of children. Eliminating the problem of malnutrition is essential for good health. Along with nutritional food, mother’s milk is also necessary for children. Lack of breastfeeding can worsen the health of the baby. Efforts should be made to create public awareness in this regard. He said that for a healthy society, work must be done on the basis of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ and with full faith. It is the responsibility of the society and social service organizations to maintain a lively interaction with the underprivileged sections of the society by making them aware.

Governor Patel said that the Covid disaster is the worst tragedy of the century. To protect against Covid, it is essential to understand and explain that health is wealth. So do not leave the house unless it is absolutely necessary. Meet people by maintaining a distance of at least two yards and frequently wash hands with soap and use sanitizer. He said experts are predicting a third wave. We are praying that the third wave does not come but there precaution is must.
