Bhopal 09 October 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that 10 hours supply of electricity should be made available to the farmers for irrigation. For this, necessary arrangements should be ensured at each level. The state government is committed to provide electricity at affordable rates in the state. Solar energy is the energy source of the future, hence no stone should be left unturned in the installation of solar power plants. Necessary policy should be made to encourage setting up of plants up to one or two MW. Chief Minister Chouhan issued these instructions in a meeting of the Energy Department regarding power supply for Rabi crops held in Mantralaya. Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Energy, New and Renewable Energy Sanjay Dubey and other officers were present in the meeting.

Efforts required at all levels to increase revenue

Chief Minister Chouhan has said that every possible effort is necessary to reduce the dependence on coal in power generation. Efforts are necessary at all levels to increase revenue. If we ensure the supply of quality electricity, it will help in creating the mindset of the common man for regular payment of electricity bills. Expressing dissatisfaction over the problem of dysfunctional or burnt transformers, Chief Minister Chouhan directed to conduct a study of the failure rate of transformers.

Discussion held regarding availability of transformer and coal

Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar told the need for increase in departmental staff. Discussions were held in the meeting regarding the availability of flexi plan, transformers and coal to ensure power supply in Rabi season. Discussion on the possibility of shifting the peak power demand to the afternoon shift in Rabi season was also held, as the availability of solar power is maximum in the afternoon – Window to News
