Urban Development Minister Singh launches Junior National Hockey Championship
Bhopal 18 October 2021: Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh inaugurated the first Hockey India Junior National Inter Academy Hockey Championship at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Bhopal on Monday. He said that efforts are being made to provide national and international level facilities to promote sports talent facilities under the leadership of the Chief Minister and under the guidance of Sports and Youth Welfare Minister. All these facilities will be increased even more. The budget of Sports and Youth Welfare Department has also been increased.
Singh said that the government has appointed Madhya Pradesh sportsperson Vivek Sagar as DSP after his remarkable performance in Tokyo Olympics-2020. Along with this, Rs one crore and a house will also be given. Rs 31 lakh each has been given to all the women’s hockey team members.
Singh inaugurated the championship by hitting the hockey ball. He got acquainted with the players.
Director Sports and Youth Welfare Ravi Kumar Gupta informed that this competition will be organized from October 18 to 27 and will comprise 28 hockey teams. He informed that the first Hockey Sub Junior Boys National Inter Academy Hockey Championship has been organized in Bhopal from October 4 to 13, 2021. In this, the team of Madhya Pradesh State Hockey Academy was the winner.
