Bhopal 13 November 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that veterinarians and experts should do result-oriented work on how cow rearing should become a profitable business for small farmers and livestock breeders. To enable good milk production in milching animals, it is necessary to arrange for breed improvement and facilitate treatment of animals. Ambulance facility has been started by the state government from number 109 for easy medical treatment of animals.
The aim is avoid bringing animals to the hospital for treatment. Rather, ambulance should be made a available at the spot where the animals are sick and they should be treated. Chief Minister Chouhan was inaugurating the Lady Vets (Women Veterinarian) Conclave-Shakti 2021 organized by the Indian Veterinary Association. Chief Minister Chouhan also released the association’s souvenir and e-magazine.
A workshop has been organized by the Association on the role of women veterinarians in the economic progress of the nation at Kamdhenu Bhavan under Azadi ke Amrit Mahotsav. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Purushottam Rupala, noted actor Nitish Bhardwaj, Agriculture Production Commissioner Shailendra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary JN. Kansotia and other officers were present on the occasion.
Close connection between Agriculture and Animal Husbandry
Chief Minister Chouhan said that I am a farmer and cow rearing is my means of livelihood. I had taken a pledge that I would make my livelihood through agriculture or agriculture-related activities. Agriculture and animal husbandry are closely related. India cannot be imagined without agriculture and agriculture is not possible without animal husbandry. Due to mechanization in agriculture, there has been a change in the balance between agriculture and animal husbandry. Earlier farmers used to save the bull also along with the cow. But with mechanization, the importance of the cow, and especially the bull, started declining. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the milk of indigenous breed cow is more beneficial for health, but due to low production of milk in these cows, it is difficult for the farmers to raise them. Therefore, for small cattle farmers, study and research is necessary for rearing indigenous cows and making milk production a profitable business. To encourage cow rearing by the state government, the best cow breeder is rewarded with the Gaupal Award.
Need to encourage participation of society in the work of animal welfare
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Prime Minister Modi has guided the world regarding environment in Glasgow. The world is facing a different crisis due to chemical fertilizers. People are suffering from many types of diseases, it is a serious threat. Therefore, the world must move towards organic farming. Animal husbandry is of great importance in organic farming. The Govardhan Puja started by Lord Krishna clearly indicates the importance of animals. It is clear that without cows and oxen, work cannot be done. The state government is working for the betterment of animals through cow sanctuary and gaushalas. It is also necessary to encourage the participation of the society in this direction.
Animal Husbandry helpful in economic empowerment
Chief Minister Chouhan said that we are making constant efforts to create awareness for better use of animal products in the state. Apart from milk, many things are also made from cow dung, cow urine etc. If we want, we can strengthen our economy with these activities and we can also make the country financially sound. Chief Minister Chouhan said that efforts are being made to minimize use of wood for burning in cremation grounds in Madhya Pradesh. The use of gau-kasht made from cow dung should be increased. Due to this, the cowsheds are also becoming self-sufficient. Work is also going on in the direction of making manure and other items by purchasing cow dung.
Women entering the field of animal husbandry will definitely bring a change
Reading a line from the souvenir released on the occasion, ‘Nari Shakti ki gaurav gatha, rana se upchar tak, hathiyar se auzar tak’ Chief Minister Chouhan said that the entry of women in the field of animal husbandry would definitely bring about a change.
Chief Minister Chouhan informed about the schemes for women empowerment in the state. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renamed Habibganj railway station after Rani Kamalapati, which is a big step in the direction of women empowerment.
