Bhopal 15 November 2021: The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has said that today India is celebrating its first Janjatiya Gourav Diwas in the true sense. After independence, for the first time in the country on such a large scale, this event is being organised by the Madhya Pradesh government to glorify and honour the contribution of tribes in tribal art, culture and freedom struggle. For this the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan deserves congratulations.

The Government of India has also decided that on 15th November every year Janjatiya Gourav Diwas will be celebrated on a large scale like Gandhi-Patel-Ambedkar Jayanti all over the country and the contribution of tribal society will be made to reach the masses. Today the Shivraj government is starting many schemes for the welfare of the tribals. This is a matter of great joy.

In the programme, Governor Mangubhai Patel handed over appointment letters to Vivek Kumar Bharia and Sushri Pinky Sahariya, secondary teachers appointed for special backward tribal areas. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over the appointment letter to Ravi Shankar Bhimseni Bharia.

The Prime Minister said that very beautiful and meaningful dance-songs have been presented here by tribal artists. I was watching them carefully. Every dance, song, lifestyle, tradition has some element of knowledge. Today this dance song was telling me that life is of 4 days, then it gets mixed in the soil, no one lives on earth, fields, barns, money and wealth have to be left here. It is futile to have conceit in the mind. These tribal brothers and sisters living in the forests tell us the best of life's knowledge. We are learning all this right now.

Prime Minister Modi said that the tribal community in Madhya Pradesh has set a good example before the educated class by getting both the vaccines against corona. They have played an important role in saving the country. He appreciated 100 percent corona vaccination in Narsinghrunda village of Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.

Prime Minister Modi said that tribal society has an important contribution in Indian culture. The cooperation given by the tribal society to Lord Ram during his exile made Maryada Purushottam. We get inspiration from the traditions, customs, lifestyle of the tribal society.

Like every other section, the tribal community has also been given every opportunity to progress by the government. All the facilities like education, housing, electricity, gas, treatment etc. have been provided in the tribal areas also. Water is being supplied from tap to every household by launching the Jal-Jeevan Mission in the country.

Similarly, in the Jal Jeevan Mission, 30 lakh families in Madhya Pradesh who are being provided door-to-door drinking water, most of them are tribal brothers. Before this the sisters and daughters of the tribal class used to go far and wide to fetch water.

The Prime Minister said that such changes have been made in the mineral policy, due to which the tribals have started getting benefits from the mining of minerals in the forest areas. Tribal class is a participant in the profit of 50 thousand crores from the District Mineral Fund. This wealth is of use for the tribal society. Employment prospects have increased in the mining sector. Prime Minister Modi said that the earlier governments had tied up the simple tasks like bamboo cultivation with laws, which have been amended and now the path has been cleared to meet the small needs of the tribals.

Prime Minister Modi said that coarse grains, which were once neglected, are becoming the brand of India. Work is being done to provide work and employment opportunities to the tribal sisters. Where earlier there was a system of support price only for 8 to 10 produce, now support price is being given on about 90 forest produce. There is no dearth of talent in the tribal class, but due to lack of will, the previous governments did not give respect to their creation. Their traditions were not preserved. Today in Bhopal, the evidence of their skills has been found by seeing the items made by the tribal sisters.

Prime Minister Modi said that the welfare of the tribal community is the top priority of our government. Unless every person does not participate, the development of the country is not possible. Like all other sections of the society, the government has provided every possible opportunity for growth to the tribal society. All facilities like education, housing, electricity, gas connection, healthcare etc. have been provided in the tribal areas also. The government has provided water to each household in the country via tap connections.

The tribal community is also a beneficiary of the 50 thousand crores coming in from the District Mineral Fund. This wealth is benefiting the tribal community. There is no dearth of talent in the tribal community, but due to lack of will, the previous governments did not give respect to their work. Their traditions were not preserved.
