Chief Minister Chouhan planted Gulmohar and Peepal saplings in Smart Garden

Bhopal 15 November 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan planted Gulmohar and Peepal saplings in Smart Garden today. Along with Chief Minister Chouhan, Bhil artist Padma Sushri Bhuri Bai also planted saplings. Chief Minister Chouhan plants a sapling every day as part of his resolve.

Gulmohar is considered one of the most beautiful trees in the world. Flowers blooming in large clusters among the well-ordered leaves of Gulmohar give a distinct attraction to this tree. In summer, Gulmohar trees are laden with flowers instead of leaves. It is also rich in medicinal properties. Peepal is a shade giving tree. It purifies the environment. It also has religious and Ayurvedic significance. According to natural science, Peepal tree releases oxygen day and night which is important for our environment. Apart from this, Peepal tree is also called Akshay tree because this tree is never without leaves.
Leaves keep falling and new ones keep coming. Due to this quality of the Peepal tree, it has been described as a symbol of life-death cycle.

Sushri Bhuri Bai, who was awarded the Padma in the year 2021 by the Government of India, was born in Pitol village of Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh and belongs to the community of Bhils, India's largest tribal group. Padma Sushri Bhuri Bai started her painting journey as a contemporary Bhil artist. Sushri Bhuri Bai is the first Bhil artist to use paper and canvas. The then Director of Bharat Bhavan J. Swaminathan inspired her to draw drawings on paper. Animals in the forest, peace of trees and Gatala (memorial pillars), Bhil deities, costumes, ornaments, tattoos, huts, granaries, Haat Utsav etc. with dances and oral stories incorporated every aspect of Bhil life into her art. Recently she has also started drawing pictures of airplanes, televisions, cars and buses with trees and animals. The painting of Bhuri Bai is appreciated not only in the country but also abroad.

Padma Bhuri Bai works as an artist in Adivasi Lok Kala Academy Bhopal. She has been awarded "Shikhar Samman" by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1986-87. In the year 1998, the state government has also honoured her with "Devi Ahilya Samman" – Window to News
