Bhopal 19 November 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wishes that India should make an important contribution towards environmental conservation in the world. Working in line with this intention, the state government is laying the foundation and signing contracts for solar parks for 1500 MW solar power generation in the state. The production of 1500 MW solar power will be an important contribution of the state in environmental conservation. This will have a positive impact at the global level in the field of green energy. The state government is committed to increase activity and public participation in the field of green energy, clean energy. Along with this, energy literacy campaign is also being launched.
Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing a meeting at his residence in connection with the programme to be held in Shajapur on November 25. Chouhan said that a campaign is being run to save electricity and attract people towards green energy, clean energy. This programme will be held in Dhatarwada village of Moman Barodia tehsil of Shajapur district. Chief Minister Chouhan said that solar energy has an important role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Chief Minister Chouhan will lay the foundation stone of 1500 MW Agar, Shajapur, Neemuch Solar Park on November 25. Along with this, contracts will be signed with farmers in three solar parks and those selected in ‘Kusum A’ scheme. Urja Saksharta Abhiyan (USHA) will also be launched in the programme. A short film focusing on the benefits of solar energy will also be screened at the event.
It is worth mentioning that the Agar-Shajapur-Neemuch Solar Park will provide cheap green energy to the state besides generating employment opportunities in the state. The project is expected to save about 5 million MT of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to carbon dioxide released from 50 million trees in 25 years. Urja Saksharta Abhiyan (USHA) is the biggest initiative of world’s Urja Chetna Jan Jagran. Various activities will be conducted through public participation involving students, housewives, businessmen, farmers etc. to promote energy efficiency in the campaign .
Under Kusum scheme, farmers can set up units for solar power generation on their land or lease it to the developers for project development. Kusum scheme can become a source of additional income to farmers, which will help them save 7 lakh metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equal to carbon dioxide emitted by 10 million trees in 25 years. By March 2023, 2 lakh 10 thousand pumps will be solar powered on 1050 agricultural feeders under the scheme, which will also make it possible to supply electricity to the farmers for a longer time – Window to News
