Chief Minister reviews action plan to reduce infant and maternal mortality rate
Bhopal 06 December 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the work of reducing infant and maternal mortality rate in the state is our priority. Keeping in mind the priority of this agenda, it is necessary to increase awareness among people through family welfare campaign. Chief Minister Chouhan was reviewing the action plan to reduce infant and maternal mortality in Mantralaya today.
Collector should monitor every month
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the Collector should do the monitoring the agenda of infant and maternal mortality every month in the meeting of the District Health Committee. The minister in-charge of the district should also review this agenda continuously. He said that the meetings of all other committees including the District Health Committee should be effective so that positive results come out. Meetings should not be limited to tea and snacks only.
Determine district grading
Chief Minister Chouhan said that parameters should be made in relation to reducing infant and maternal mortality. Determine the grading of the district on the lines of the aspirational district. He said that on the basis of the achievement, the Collector's CR will be determined. Those who do good work will be appreciated and action will be taken on poor achievements.
There should be an audit of the death of the newborn and the mother
Chief Minister Chouhan said that an action plan should be prepared for the audit of newborn and mother's death in the state. With this, the cause of death will be known as well as efforts will also be made in the direction of its prevention.
Save lives of babies and mothers is a sacred act
Chief Minister Chouhan said that saving the lives of newborn babies and mothers is the most sacred act. In family welfare activities, ASHA and ANM should advise the mothers to take various precautions by making visits to homes. Motivate staff nurses and CHOs as well. Regular monitoring of pre- and post-natal activities should also be ensured.
Make effective use of the portal
Chief Minister Chouhan said that effective use of RCH portal should be ensured in efforts to reduce infant and maternal mortality rate. In this portal developed by the Health Department, there is a provision to maintain all the information related to the registration of all pregnant women, antenatal check-up, delivery results and the status of the newborn at the time of birth.
Instructions of Chief Minister Chouhan
Monthly grading of districts should be done by the Health Department by identifying the most important indices from the point of view of child health and orientation of District Health Committees should be done.
Community based audit, institution based audit and audit by District Health Committee for every newborn death.
Live tracking arrangements should be made to ensure availability of equipment, medicines and necessary resources at all delivery centres. Staff nurses posted at delivery centres should be given training in newborn management.
Home visits made by ASHA, anganwadi workers should be supervised.
Responsibility of CHO should be fixed for identification and timely referral of high risk newborns. While grading the CHOs on all these indices, the department should arrange for their work based evaluation.
Adequate orientation and regular review of child and maternal health should be ensured at the district level.
Strategize for continous availability of maternal and child health and family welfare services.
There should be no delay in registration of pregnancy to reduce maternal and child mortality.
Be sure to do all checkups before delivery.
Accurate testing of haemoglobin and timely administration of iron and folic acid tablets.
An amount of four thousand rupees received in the form of nutritional food in the maternity assistance scheme should be given on time during pregnancy.
Accountability of field workers should be ensured.
In the first one hour of birth, the mother should be advised to feed her milk to the infant.
After the birth of the first child, arrangements should be made to make parents aware and counselling should be done to increase the interval of birth of the second child.
Awareness efforts should be made through slogan writing on the wall.
