Saving trees from being felled is equal to planting trees : Chief Minister Chouhan

Chief Minister Chouhan planted saplings of Karanj and Gulmohar
 
Bhopal 28 December 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today planted saplings of Karanj and Gulmohar in Smart Park. Along with Chief Minister Chouhan, Yogendra Saxena, environmental scientist involved in the promotion of Gau-kasht model (cow dung wood), with Ku. Prachi and Ku. Manya also planted saplings. After getting information about the manufacture and use of Gau-kasht, Chief Minister Chouhan appreciated these efforts. He said that saving a tree from being cut is equivalent to planting a tree.

Collector Bhopal Avinash Lavania told Chief Minister Chouhan that women of self-help groups are contributing in the manufacture of Gau-kasht. The use of Gau-kasht has proved effective in protecting the environment. Chief Minister Chouhan said that saving the forest from cutting is the work of saving environment and saving lives.

Gau-kasht useful in environmental protection

Environmental scientist Saxena told Chief Minister Chouhan that now Gau-kasht is being used in works like Holika Dahan and funeral rites. He also showed samples of Gau-kasht to Chief Minister Chouhan. He said that the Pollution Control Board is active in the efforts regarding immersion of the Plaster of Paris idol of Lord Ganesha using a scientific method. Such a single-use plastic free sanitary napkin has also been prepared, which will not be harmful to the environment if thrown, buried or burnt in the open place. It has become possible to destroy single use plastic free sanitary napkins in incinerators like bio medical waste. For the purpose of Deepdan, lamps made of cow dung, pulses and porridge are being used in rivers, which are edible for fish and effective in saving the environment of rivers.

Karanj plant

Karanj sapling is considered important in Ayurvedic medicine. Karanj plant is also used in religious works.

Gulmohar plant

Gulmohar is considered one of the most beautiful trees in the world. Flowers blooming in large clusters amidst the tidy green glimmering leaves of Gulmohar give a distinct charm to this tree. In summer, Gulmohar trees are laden with flowers instead of leaves. It is also rich in medicinal properties – Window to News
