Bhopal 04 February 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the central and state governments are working for the upliftment of villages. For easy availability of drinking water in villages, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the gift of Jal Jeevan Mission, which is proving to be a boon especially for rural women. Work is being done on a war-footing by making single and group drinking water schemes in all rural areas of the state through the mission. Chief Minister Chouhan said that till now 100 percent houses of more than 4 thousand villages have been provided with tap water facility from the mission. Along with these, till now more than 46 lakh families of the state have got tap water from the mission. Also, special attention has been paid to the purity of water.
Chief Minister Chouhan held a virtual interaction with the residents of the villages benefited by the Jal Jeevan Mission today. Minister of State for Public Health Engineering Brijendra Singh Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary Public Health Engineering Malay Srivastava were present in this interaction held at Kushabhau Thackeray Hall, Bhopal. MPs, MLAs, public representatives, members of Village Water and Sanitation Committee and rural women benefitted from the mission virtually participated in the programme.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that, the work of improving the rural economy is being done at a fast pace under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Housing facility was made available to the homeless families and now the arrangement of drinking water is being ensured in villages from door to door through Jal Jeevan Mission. He said that our priority is electricity, water, education, ration, treatment, self-employment and cleanliness in villages. We are ensuring these facilities provided by the government with public participation. Chief Minister Chouhan also appealed to the villagers to stop wastage of water and electricity.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that today in his interaction with the women of different rural areas, he was very happy to know that they know the importance of tap water very well. No one can understand the importance of water more than them, because before the mission they used to walk more than 2 kms to fetch water. Now his problem has been solved. Seeing water coming from the taps in our house gives us a feeling of joy. Chief Minister Chouhan said that by the year 2024, water would be supplied through tap in all the villages of the state. With the availability of pure drinking water, people will be able to get rid of many diseases.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that a provision of Rs 45 thousand crores has been made to ensure easy availability of drinking water in every village through Jal Jeevan Mission. In this, central share is 50 percent and the remaining 50 percent amount is being spent by the state government. So far, the work of operation and maintenance of more than 4 thousand villages in which the project has been implemented is being done by the Village Level Water and Sanitation Committee. During the interaction, Chief Minister Chouhan thanked all the committee members and appreciated the work being done by them.

Chief Minister Chouhan sought information from Sushri Anita Malviya of Bilkhiria Gram Panchayat of Phanda development block of Bhopal district regarding the earlier drinking water system in the village and door-to-door taps installed in the mission. Sushri Malviya told that earlier water had to be brought from one or two kilometers. We could never imagine that we would get tap water in our houses.
Manglesh of Satpipaliya village in Sehore district, Mamta of Harrakheda village of Anuppur district, Rachna Vishwakarma of village Sehrai in Ashoknagar district, Vipin Garg of Neemkheda village in Jabalpur district, Sushri Vaishali Dogle of Mau village of Chhindwada district, Kiran Shukla of Simri Shukla village of Damoh district, Gyaneshwar of Barkheda Kayam village of Dewas district, Sushri Bhagwati of Bhanwarda village in Mandla district, Sharif Khan of village Bhungapar in Seoni district, Sushri Savita of Judbhaniya Murli village of Rewa district, Durgashankar of Umaidpura village in Neemuch district and Rakesh Soni of Ramnagar village in Panna district shared their experiences with the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Chouhan also held virtual dialogues with the Village Water and Sanitation Committee, villagers and public representatives of the villages benefited in the mission. He said that the smile on the faces of the women is my achievement as the Chief Minister. Half the life of the women of our village is spent in the arrangement of water. Now they are relieved from the water they are getting from the tap connection in the house and the time saved in fetching water will help them and their family’s financial progress. Chief Minister Chouhan urged the villagers to undertake the work being done from Rs 45 thousand crores properly. This will improve the operation and maintenance of water supply schemes and its benefits will also be available for a long time.
Women group member of Sehrai told Chief Minister Chouhan that the women of the group do the cementing work, so the works of housing scheme would be given to these groups. Vaishali Dogle of Mau said that she wants to study and join the Indian Police Service. Chief Minister Chouhan assured all possible cooperation. Chief Minister Chouhan was pleased when Sushri Savita of Judbhania Murli told him about the main aspects involved in water testing.
CM tells villagers about special features
Chief Minister Chouhan, while interacting with the beneficiaries of Nal se Jal declared villages under Jal Jeevan Mission, also told them about its special features to them. Chief Minister Chouhan also mentioned martyr Jitendra Verma during his interaction with the beneficiaries of village Dhamanda in Sehore district. An amount of Rs 1 crore has also been announced by the Madhya Pradesh government to the family of the martyr. Chief Minister Chouhan, while interacting with the beneficiaries of Sahrai village, said that it is a matter of joy that Dipesh Jain of this village is a scientist working for ISRO. Chief Minister Chouhan also mentioned the characteristics of other villages during the interaction. Chief Minister Chouhan, while interacting with the beneficiaries of Umaidpura village of Neemuch, mentioned the world famous Bandhej Saree and Nandana there. Nandana which means the traditional art of textile printing is unique in the whole of India. The stamp printing (block printing) of Umaidpura is also famous. The villagers were also surprised when the Chief Minister told about these features. For the development of this art and business, business will be developed due to the creation of an industrial area. Chief Minister Chouhan assured of proper action in this direction.
Chief Minister Chouhan congratulated Public Health Engineering Department for effective operation of Jal Jeevan Mission in rural areas. Rural women also handed over letters of thanks to the Chief Minister in the name of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister for getting tap water. Women of Chhindwara self-help group presented a peacock crown and paper oranges made by the group to the Chief Minister. Minister of State for Public Health Engineering Brijendra Singh Yadav also addressed the programme.
