Bhopal 26 February 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that necessary decisions will be taken after seriously considering the recommendations of the task force constituted for proper evaluation of the working of statistical system in the state and for improving the quality of data and system in policy making. By improving the statistical system, its use in public interest will be ensured.

Chief Minister Chouhan today dedicated the report submitted by the Kundu Task Force (Committee) constituted under the chairmanship of famous economist Prof. Amitabh Kundu by the Madhya Pradesh government at CM residence office. The report given by the task force also includes a recommendation for the formation of a State Statistical Commission. The commission will provide technical guidance in this area. Finance Minister Jagdish Deora, Deputy Chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Policy and Planning Commission Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi, Task Force member Prof. Ganesh Kawadia, Amitabh Panda, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Manish Rastogi, Principal Secretary Public Relations Raghavendra Kumar Singh and Commissioner Economics and Statistics and Task Force Coordinator Abhishek Singh were present.

Recommendations of task force are important and useful

Chief Minister Chouhan said that authentic data is essential for the formulation of schemes and allocation of funds from the central government These figures are also useful for GDP evaluation and implementation of projects. Kundu Task Force was formed and arrangements were made for its necessary study and research. It will also make it easier to suggest new and innovative measures to improve the existing administrative set-up at the state and district levels, to make publications comprehensive, accessible and legible for citizens and experts. Chief Minister Chouhan said that 10 lakh people of the state have been successfully provided jobs in the last two months. Women self-help groups are also doing good work. The report of Kundu Committee also mentions about this growth in the state. Apart from this, emphasis has been laid on training employees of the Statistics Department in the use of modern techniques in surveying, income estimation, statistics and information technology among other recommendations. The plan to design and conduct sample surveys to improve the capacity and quality of sample surveys in the state, the need for creating a sample survey wing at the state level is also mentioned. Modernization of data management systems is one of the objectives of the task force.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that accurate data would help in size and evaluation of GDP of the state as well as empowering the entire system. Chief Minister Chouhan thanked the task force for preparing and submitting the report within a period of just 5 months.

Good progress apparent in MSME sector in Madhya Pradesh- Prof. Kundu

Prof. Amitabh Kundu said that the report has been prepared by the task force after visiting the districts and various meetings. This report will be helpful in policy making. Prof. Kundu said that there is good progress in the MSME sector in Madhya Pradesh. Micro, small and medium enterprises are becoming a support for the needy in Madhya Pradesh. In order to improve the collection and management of statistics in the state, setting up of a State Statistical Commission has been recommended. Along with this, setting up of a state level data reservoir is also in the offing, so that the work of data collection of all departments can be done in the Planning, Economic and Statistics Headquarters.

Other Key Recommendations

Formation of survey cadre and creation of professional statistical service.
Re-formation of state level statistical and subordinate service, modernization of data management system, creation of state-of-the-art and professional statistical service.
Calculation of GSDP and income, estimation of prices and expenditure, estimation of DSDP and prices, measures and suggestions to upgrade the existing approach adopted for expenditure-side estimation.

Suggestion of GDP calculation at district level.
After the above reforms, the availability of reliable statistical data will be ensured in the state, on the basis of which the state will be able to make scientific and accurate policies and take efficient decisions to get the definite outcome of the plans – Window to News
