Safety of women is the top priority of the state government – CM Chouhan

Bhopal 08 March 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the safety of women is the top priority of the state government for which it is running many campaigns. We have zero tolerance towards crimes against women. The state assembly was the first in the country to make a law to directly hang those for subjecting women to brutality.

Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing the distribution function of 100 two wheelers to the Urja Mahila desks of police stations of remote areas of the state on International Women’s Day. Chief Minister Chouhan flagged off the rally of two wheelers from Smart Udyan to the Urja Mahila Desks. Chouhan also dedicated three short documentaries based on true events to connect the society with the ‘Asli Hero Abhiyan’ being run for women’s safety.

Greeting the women of the state on International Women’s Day, Chief Minister Chouhan said that it was our decision to ensure 30 percent of recruitment in the police force of women. It is a matter of pride that women are fulfilling this responsibility of protection with utmost seriousness. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been a strong advocate of women empowerment. Many schemes have been launched in this direction.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that women police stations have been established in the state. Women help desks have been set up. In addition, Urja Mahila Help Desk has been set up. Women Help Desks have been set up in police stations to enable women to register FIRs without any hesitation. This responsibility is being fulfilled by female police personnel.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that two wheelers are being provided to Urja Mahila Help Desks for this purpose only if there is any information related to crime against women the victim can get registered her complaint without any hesitation. Urja Mahila Help Desks have been set up in 700 police stations in the state. Two wheelers are being provided to 100 desks out of them. Vehicles will be provided to the remaining 600 women help desks in two phases. The state government will leave no stone unturned for the safety of women.

Many innovations have been started for women’s safety on the initiative of CM Chouhan – DGP Saxena

Director General of Police Sudhir Kumar Saxena said that safety of women has been on top priority of Chief Minister Chouhan. Under his direction and guidance, many innovations have taken place in the state, including establishment of women police stations in every district, establishment of energy women desks in 700 police stations, establishment of crèches in police units, establishment of 1090 women helplines, launch of Operation Muskaan to locate missing minor boys and girls and Operation Helping Hand. Along with this, honoring Asli Heros for commendable work done by the general public for safety of women and pre-litigation online help has been started for women. Skill upgradation and capacity building activities of police personnel are also being conducted for safety of women. Additional Director General of Police Women Security Smt. Pragya Richa Srivastava also spoke on the occasion.

Dedication of short films focused on true events on women’s safety

Chief Minister Chouhan dedicated three short documentaries based on true incidents of Bhopal, Sagar and Vidisha and focused on women’s safety. Asli Hero of Bhopal Manoj Gaikwad, is an auto driver. He got suspicious when a 13-year-old girl traveling alone from Mandsaur asked about a train to Delhi. Gaikwad informed this to constable Sunil Rathore posted at ISBT post. This saved the girl child from being trafficked in the name of getting a job in Haryana.

The real hero in the second short film is Smt. Shribai, a resident of Aapchand in Sagar district who on sensing something suspicious about a 22-year-old woman who had fled fearing excesses, raised an alarm, causing the accused to flee. Showing courage and humanity, Shribai gave shelter to the victim in her house and registered the crime by informing the Kotwar and Sarpanch.

The real hero in the third short film is Arti Sharma of Vidisha district. When a girl told her about being physically harassed by her family, Arti Sharma raised her voice against it although in the process she had to face opposition of the whole family. Sharma registered a crime against the family members at the women’s police station in Vidisha district. Following this incident, Sharma was abandoned by her husband as well but she continued to support the victim and inspired her to stand up for truth.

Two wheeler rally reaches stadium from Smart Garden via Police Control Room

The women’s two wheeler rally flagged off by Chief Minister Chouhan started from Smart Park and reached Motilal Nehru Stadium via Depot Square, Atal Path, Platinum Plaza, Roshanpura Square, Police Control Room.
