Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a Mahakumbh was held on the occasion of completion of ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ Seva Yatra at Amarkantak on May 15. Marriage Mahakumbh of 2400 daughters is held at Singrauli today. Both the Mahakumbhs were grand, pious and amazing. Every person should make collective efforts to organize such programmes taking inspiration from this marriage mahakumbh for happy life of poor daughters. This large marriage programme under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana has set a record in Madhya Pradesh, he added.
CM Chouhan was addressing the large marriage ceremony programme under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana held at Baidhan Nagar of Singrauli district. Also, 200 nikahs were performed on the occasion. Chouhan mentioned that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also participated in the Mahakumbh held at Amarkantak on May 15. The Prime Minister had expressed happiness over the fulfillment of ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ seva yatra’s objectives and peoples’ cooperation. Moreover, the Prime Minister said that the yatra has taken a form of large public movement to make Narmada river incessant and to make it pollution free. Chouhan mentioned that the state government has decided that every river of the state will be conserved and protected. Hence, sand mining will not be allowed in the rivers with machines. Complete ban will be imposed on mining through machines. No sand mining will be allowed from Narmada river at any place. This movement will be continued in different forms. Sand from Narmada river could be obtained in quantity which will not cause damage to the river’s environment. How much sand is to be mined will be decided on the basis of scientific advices and the decision will be taken by a committee under the Chairmanship of Industries Minister. Action will be taken if sand is mined from the rivers against the decision of the state government. Dumpers, machines engaged in mining will be confiscated, he added.
Moreover, Chouhan stated that credit of success of this girls’ marriage mahakumbh goes to administration, public representatives, community and public cooperation. I am pleased. Earlier a record of 1100 girls’ marriage was set by Badwani district. This group marriage of 2400 girls is inspirational. Such a grand and amazing programme on the occasion of marriage of poor girls filled bride and grooms besides their families with joy.
Chouhan informed that villagers had demanded help from the government for marriage of poor girls during his visit to a village when he was a Member of Legislative Assembly. There was no such scheme that time. In such circumstances he himself got the girl married in the year 1991. She touched my feet. After that I took resolution that I will perform the marriages of the poor girls.
This kept on continued till I become Member of Parliament. I used to spent sum from my MP’s allowances for poor girls’ marriages. Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojana was launched in the year 2006 after he became Chief Minister of the state in the year 2005.
Furthermore, CM Chouhan said that when Mama (Maternal Uncle) is concerned about the marriage of the daughters then let the girls come in the world. Save Girl Child and consider son and daughter equal. The state government has implemented Ladli Laxmi Yojana, uniforms, text books, cycle distribution and has made rule for 50 percent reservation for women in election of local bodies besides 50 percent reservation on posts of teachers. Chouhan further mentioned that the state government has reserved 33 percent posts in police department besides all other departments except forest department.
CM Chouhan stated that Rs. 17 thousand has been deposited by the state government in the banks accounts of girls under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah yojana. Household items worth Rs. 5 thousand and Rs. 3 thousand is being given for smart phone. Also domestic gas connection is being given to each girl under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana. He blessed all the newly wedded couples for their happy married life.
Chouhan mentioned that Almighty exists where there is respect for mother and daughter. He told that he visited a tribal family’s house during his Betul tour a few days ago. He did not allow girl to wash his feet and he himself washed her feet and applied pious water to his forehead. He mentioned that we all have to respect daughters.
Furthermore, Chouhan stated that birth centenary year of Pt. Deendayal Upadhayay will be observed as Gharib Kalyan Varsh. Mentioning about the welfare and development schemes for poor, Chouhan said that land will be given to poor who have no land for construction of houses. While referring to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Chouhan mentioned that houses will be provided to all the poor in the state till 2022. A total of 13 thousand 770 houses are being constructed this year in Singrauli district under this scheme.
Chouhan said that the state government has decided that fee of poor students for higher education in medical, engineering and other trades will be borne by the state government provided they secure over 75 percent marks in class 12th examination. A provision of Rs. One thousand crore has been made by the state government in this regard.
Moreover, Chouhan said that he has made the Singrauli a district. Government is making effort to develop Singrauli like Singapore. Basic facilities are being developed. Amount has been sanctioned for sewage system. Airport will be constructed in Singrauli. An amount of Rs. 90 crore has been approved for road construction in rural area. Singrauli is a power capital of India, he added.
Chouhan mentioned that all the necessary requirement of schools and ashrams will be fulfilled. Demand for College will be fulfilled. Schools will be upgraded as per the rules. Morva nagar will not be abandon for the sake of coal mining. Discussions with Government of India will be held in this regard.
CM Chouhan presented a cheque of Rs. 25 thousand from the CM discretionary fund to the girls who recited songs on the occasion of group marriage programme. Afterwards Chouhan blessed the newly wedded couples and presented gifts to them.-WTN
