Bhopal 29 March 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state government will provide all facilities to the exporters to meet the present demand of quality wheat in the world market. Wheat of Madhya Pradesh is known as MP Wheat. Presently, efforts are being made to reach out to the markets of high export potential countries like Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Nigeria, Tanzania etc. with the help of Indian Embassy. Various port trusts have agreed to arrange immediate storage for export of wheat and to give priority to wheat vessels. The Madhya Pradesh government will do the work of reimbursement of mandi fees to be paid to the exporter on the quantum of export.
Chief Minister Chouhan was holding a discussion about maximum export of wheat of Madhya Pradesh with exporters and senior officials of Government of India at Mantralaya today. The Chief Minister said that all necessary steps would be taken to benefit the farmers. Bottlenecks in the export process will be removed. With combined efforts of the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi’ resolve will be fulfilled.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that export of wheat is in the interest of farmers, exporters and the nation. Export of wheat and other products from India is profitable for all. Ministry of Railways will provide necessary rakes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also conveyed his intention to increase wheat exports from India. Talks have been held with the exporters in Delhi last week in the presence of Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal.
Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Kamal Patel, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Food Secretary to Government of India Sudhanshu Pandey, Additional Chief Secretary Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development Ajit Kesari, Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner Shailendra Singh, Principal Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Faiz Ahmed Kidwai and concerned officers were present. Grain traders and exporters from different cities of the state also attended the meeting and gave their suggestions.
PM Modi Intends to promote export
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Prime Minister Modi is striving towards the target of 400 billion dollars of commercial exports from India. The central government is working on measures to increase exports. The efforts of the Export Promotion Council and related institutions have been intensified in this regard. Export of MP wheat will help make the farmers economically prosperous.
Golden Wheat of Madhya Pradesh should reach every corner of the world
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Sharbati wheat and other varieties of Madhya Pradesh have a distinct identity. This year also bumper stock of wheat is being produced. Madhya Pradesh is the second largest producer of wheat in the country with 360 metric tonnes of wheat production per year. In the last 6 months, special varieties of wheat, Lokman, Sharbati, Malwa Shakti, Sujata, were purchased from the farmers in the mandis. Due to the climate and soil of the region, it is called wheat like grains of gold. Sharbati wheat and Durum (Kathiya) wheat are in high demand. Estimates are being made to temporarily provide land and other facilities to exporters in major mandis of the state to create export based infrastructure at concessional rates. This is also a rare opportunity to establish its quality and identity in the world market. Efforts have been intensified to make this Golden Wheat reach every corner of the world so that its name becomes its identity. This meeting was called in Bhopal today for the same purpose after meeting with exporters in New Delhi. The suggestions received today will be helpful in taking other important decisions. Chief Minister Chouhan said that we will also take care of the quality of wheat being exported.
Exporters will get facilities
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh government will provide necessary facilities to the exporters. The state government intends to connect the main exporters with Madhya Pradesh. All the concerned Ministries of Government of India, Railways, Port Trust, Embassy of India are making efforts for record export of wheat. Discussion was held in today’s meeting on reimbursement of the expenses incurred in grading and sorting on export of the prescribed variety of wheat grade A and B in the state by cleaning, grading, sorting and purchasing it from the farmers, to the exporter, in addition to the actual reimbursement of mandi duty to the exporters on the export of wheat of Madhya Pradesh for export promotion of wheat, export of stock of excess stock of wheat on priority and making the government godowns of the state available. Along with this, the discussion on the process of long-term trade agreement in coordination with various countries to develop a new international market for the export of wheat in the state, by the Ministry of External Affairs, APEDA (Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, would be fruitful.
Representatives take part in high level meeting
Several senior officers along with the Union Food Secretary, were present in the meeting. Officials from Ministry of Railways and other Ministries of Government of India including Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairman, APEDA, Director General of DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) Santosh Kumar Sarangi, concerned senior officers of the state government, prominent traders and exporters from different cities of the state participated virtually.
