Bhopal 03 April 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will attend the Gaurav Diwas programme to be held at Makhan Nagar in Narmadapuram district on Monday, April 4. Various organizations will express their gratitude to the Chief Minister for renaming Babai Nagar as Makhan Nagar on the birth anniversary of Satyagrahi and freedom fighter Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi by Chief Minister Chouhan. Various development works will be dedicated and bhoomi-pujan will be performed in Makhan Nagar. Along with this, a Sankalp Patra has also been prepared for the planned development of the city.
People to express their gratitude to CM Chouhan
Monday, April 4 is going to be historic for Makhan Nagar. On reaching Makhannagar on the birth anniversary of Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi, local citizens will express their gratitude to Chief Minister Chouhan in the Gaurav Diwas programme for naming Babai as Makhan Nagar. It may be noted here that name plates of Makhan Nagar have been put up in the city with wide public cooperation in offices, markets, banks, post offices, police stations and other public places.
On Pride Day, local citizens will also take a pledge to cooperate with social organizations in the efforts of city’s development. Every family in Makhan Nagar has taken initiative to plant a tree, to work for water conservation, to make the city’s Anganwadi centers and schools excellent with public cooperation, to celebrate the birth of daughters and to resolve for cleanliness. Citizens have been invited for Gaurav Diwas by giving yellow rice on April 2 and 3.

Various organizations of the state have also expressed special gratitude to Chief Minister Chouhan for changing Babai’s name to Makhan Nagar. This decision has been considered historical and memorable in the world of literature and journalism. Madhavrao Sapre Memorial Newspaper Museum and Research Institute, Tulsi Manas Pratishthan, Hindi Bhawan, Madhya Pradesh Writers Association has considered this decision taken by Chief Minister Chouhan in honour of dedicated writer and freedom fighter like Pandit Chaturvedi as a special example in the entire nation.
Makhanlal Chaturvedi: An Introduction
Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi, the writer and freedom fighter, was born on April 4, 1889 in Babai, which will from now on be known as Makhan Nagar after Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi. Pt Chaturvedi, the illustrious editor of ‘Karmaveer’ and ‘Prabha’, has been the immortal hero of the national poetic stream, 'Pushp ki Abhilasha'. In honor of Pt. Chaturvedi, the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi also came to Narmadapuram district and set an example by reaching the birthplace of Pt. Chaturvedi. Pt. Chaturvedi was the victorious commander of the Jhanda Satyagraha. He was a unique writer. He repeatedly campaigned against the British rule. Because of this, he wreaked havoc for the British Empire. He actively participated in the non-cooperation movement of the year 1921-22 and also went to jail. His love of patriotism is apparent in his poetic works. He had authority over many languages. He was awarded the honorary degree of D Litt from Sagar University in the year 1959. Along with this, he was awarded the ‘Sahitya Akademi’ award for his poetry collection 'Himtarangini' in the year 1955 and the Padma Bhushan in the year 1963 from the Government of India. Pt.
