Will usher in new era with public participation and experiences in sustainable development: CM Chouhan

Bhopal 09 April 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a conference of voluntary organizations organized to share experiences and participation in sustainable development will usher in a new era of public participation. No stone will be left unturned in implementing the conclusions of the conference. The implementation of the findings will be done jointly by the state government and voluntary organizations. Voluntary organizations are also engaged in the work of development and public welfare according to the goals and objectives of the state government.  Chief Minister Chouhan said that the country will be developed only with public cooperation. Public participation in the management of Covid-19 in the state is an example. The success that Indore city has achieved in the field of cleanliness has also been possible only through public participation.

Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing a conference of voluntary organizations organized by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis at Kushabhau Thackeray Hall today for participation in sustainable development and sharing of experiences.   

Chief Minister Chouhan said that to ensure that the voluntary organizations coming forward in the field of development and public welfare in the state do not face any kind of problem, registration facility would be made available at the district level by Jan Abhiyan Parishad. The Jan Abhiyan Parishad will be trained for this work by the Institute of Good Governance. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the initiative of the people has to be included in the process of development. Self-help groups of women formed in the state are contributing Rs 20 thousand crore to the state’s economy. Voluntary organizations should also campaign for Urja Saksharta. By launching a power saving campaign, we can save Rs four thousand crore in the state. Chief Minister Chouhan stressed on the need for wide publicity of positive works and innovations being done in the state. He said that the suggestions and recommendations received from the conference would be implemented in the state.

Vice-Chairman of the Institute of Good Governance, Professor Sachin Chaturvedi said that special sessions were held in the conference on partnership in development, health and nutrition, education-skills and livelihood, new opportunities for advancement in agriculture and financial inclusion etc. A two-day conference was organized to increase the participation of NGOs in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and share their experiences. Founder of Development Alternative New Delhi, Dr. Ashok Khosla, President and Founder of Priya Sangathan, Dr. Rajesh Tandon also expressed their views.

Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Good Governance Smt. G.V. Rashmi told about the objectives of the conference. She said that a framework on how the state government agencies and civil society organizations should work together in a mutual, complementary manner for inclusive development was discussed. As many as 64 subject experts participated in 6 sessions of the conference.
