Natural farming -a solution to the challenges of climate change: Governor Patel
Governor Mangubhai Patel called upon the farmers of the state to commit to natural farming with the spirit of ‘Jab Jago-Tab Savera’. He said that in the year 1977, the League of Nations had warned about global warming. Despite this, the problem of global warming is on the rise. Nature has arranged for four seasons in a year. But mankind has played with nature to make four seasons in a day. He said that today it is getting severely cold and severely hot in a single day. If efforts are not made in time, the future can be in peril. He said that natural farming is an effective solution to the challenges of climate change. There is a need that this matter should be reach every farmer.
Future generation will thank the present generation for adopting natural farming
Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, while sharing his experience in the field of natural farming, said that natural farming will yield many benefits. It will protect from global warming. It will save the environment, water, cow, earth and people. This will also save the money of the government and the people and the future generation will be grateful to the present generation. He said that natural farming is safer for the earth-environment and living beings than chemical farming and organic farming. He said that global warming is the biggest challenge of the future. Only one to two percent increase in temperature can reduce production by 32 percent. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt natural farming.
Natural farming is zero cost farming
Governor Acharya Devvrat said that natural farming is zero-cost farming, whose manure factory is indigenous cow and the earthworm, a friend who works day and night. He explained the difference between organic and natural farming. Also explained the method of natural farming on the basis of science based examples and own farming experiences. He told that the use of chemical elements in the field destroys the fertility of the soil. The productivity of organic farming grows slowly. Also, the required manure requires a large quantity of cow dung, which requires a lot of animals per acre and takes more labor.
Number of patients of serious diseases like cancer is increasing due to use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides
Governor Acharya Devvrat told that the fertility of the land depends on organic carbon. The amount of organic carbon in the land of Pant Nagar, the center of Green Revolution, was 2.5 percent in the year 1960, which has come down to 0.6 percent today. If its quantity is less than 0.5 percent, the land becomes barren. Indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides makes crops poisonous. Due to this the number of patients of serious diseases like cancer is increasing.
It is necessary to save mankind from poisonous elements
Governor Acharya Devvrat said that cow-based natural farming is the most effective solution to increase the fertility of the land and save mankind from toxic elements. Fertilizers and pesticides for cow-based natural farming are made from indigenous cow dung and urine. To this, gram flour, jaggery, a handful of soil and 200 liters of water have to be mixed. Farmers can prepare this Jeevamrut themselves. Jeevamrut increases the fertility of the field in the same way that a small amount of curd turns milk into curd. For one acre of land, Jeevamrut can be prepared from cow urine and cow dung of a desi cow for a day. He said that with one cow natural farming can be done in 30 acres of land. The bacteria produced from Jeevamrut are the best friends of the farmer. The activity of earthworms increases water seepage deep into the land, it also increases the water harvesting capacity.
Natural farming can also help increase farmers’ income
Governor Devvrat told that it is also necessary to cover the land (mulching) in natural farming. This saves up to 70 percent water in three years. Bacteria get food to grow, organic carbon is saved and weeds do not grow. He said that by taking multiple crops at a time, the fertility of the soil increases and more yield can be obtained. This increases the income of the farmers.
Farmers of the state should adopt natural farming – CM Chouhan
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state level workshop on natural farming method is not just a ritual, it is a mahayagya to change the condition and direction of agriculture. Madhya Pradesh Natural Agriculture Board will be constituted immediately in the state. A book will be made available to the farmers of the state to give information about the techniques of natural farming. Chief Minister Chouhan said that I am also going to start natural farming in my 5 acre land. Chief Minister Chouhan appealed to all the farmers of the state to start natural farming in some areas out of the agricultural land they have. Other farmers will be inspired to expand natural farming with its benefit.
We must remain conscious to maintain the productive capacity of Mother Earth
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is a leader in organic farming. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the idea of utilizing nature, not exploiting it. This is a mantra given keeping in mind the perils of the future. Use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is adversely affecting the health of the earth. We have to be conscious to maintain the productive capacity of Mother Earth for the generations to come.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that this earth is not only for humans but also for insects and animals. We have eliminated our friendly insects by indiscriminate use of insecticides and our rivers have also been affected. As per the vision of Prime Minister Modi, Jalabhishek campaign has been started in the state for water conservation. We have to give water to Mother Earth in proportion to the amount of water we are taking from it. This is an attempt to pass on a better heritage to the coming generation.
Natural farming is the only alternative for health of the earth, condition of farmers and healthy life
Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is a true that chemical fertilizers were needed to increase production, it was necessary to increase production. But with time its side effects have started to surface. The cost of farming is increasing due to increased use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and more water requirement in farming. Production is increasing, but expenditure is also increasing. An alternative way out of this vicious cycle of farming has to be found. Natural farming is the only alternative for a healthy earth, healthy farmer and healthy life.
CM Chouhan is a security cover for the poor and farmers – Union Minister Tomar
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar said that chemical farming was a solution borne out of circumstances. We shall have to accept today’s challenges and move towards innovation. With this intention, the government, taking the initiative of natural farming, has taken the initiative of training 30 thousand farmers by engaging in a knowledge partnership with MERIS orgaisation. A committee has also been formed in the Indian Council for Agricultural Research to include natural farming curriculum in university education. Eight states of the country have adopted natural farming.
