Preeti Maithil, Director of Research of Agricultural University Gwalior Shri SK Sharma, senior officials of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat government and officials of Gujarat Natural Agriculture Development Board were present.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan himself invited me while I keep urging other states: Shri Acharya Devvrat

Governor Devvrat said that he keeps visiting various states for the promotion of natural farming. One special thing is that the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself requested me to come to Madhya Pradesh. On his invitation, I made a programme to come here. In other states I have to contact myself. I am very happy with the invitation received from Madhya Pradesh. I am sure that Madhya Pradesh will achieve good success in the field of natural agriculture.

Good results are possible with voluntary cooperation

Governor Devvrat said that if this work is done voluntarily with a dedicated spirit, then it will be more result oriented. In the Agriculture Department, the staff associated with ATMA (Agriculture Technology Management Agency) should first be trained for natural farming. The trained person will be the master trainer of natural farming. Describing the experience of this work in his life, Shri Devvrat told that natural farming was started from a small area. Earlier only about 50 thousand farmers were associated with it. Their number has now increased to 2 lakh. Farmers of different states have started adopting natural farming.

Prime Minister Shri Modi also takes interest

Governor Devvrat informed that Prime Minister Modi is coming to Gujarat this week. He will hold discussions with senior officials of Gujarat on April 18 regarding natural farming. Prior to this, he has addressed farmers on the importance of natural farming at the National Agriculture and Food Processing Summit in December 2021. Farmers participated in this conference through Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Agricultural Technology Management Agency network. In order to popularize natural farming in Gujarat, a strategy has been made that ADM and SDM along with Collector will obtain monthly information about the work of natural farming in the district. Such farmers doing natural farming, who are also rearing indigenous cows while cultivating their land, are provided an amount of Rs. 900 per month. Presently two lakh such cows are being reared. Initiatives in this regard have also been taken in Uttar Pradesh. Much more benefit comes from cow farming than the subsidy given to the farmer.

Dang district in Gujarat selected for pilot project

Devvrat informed that Dang district in East Gujarat has been selected for pilot project and systematic work for natural farming has started from November 19, 2021. Farmers interested in natural farming are being provided training, organic certification, reimbursement of fees and marketing support. FPOs have also been created by making efforts in each block. Natural Agriculture Boards have been set up in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. Madhya Pradesh will be the new state to constitute this board in this sequence. Shri Devvrat told that natural farming should be started by selecting 5 or 10 farmers from each village. After that this work should be gradually expanded.

What will be the structure of the Board

Devvrat informed that other ministers are included in the board under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. At the state level the task force can also function, headed by the chief secretary. Apart from this, a senior officer associated with the ATMA project can be given the responsibility of executive director. Shri Devvrat also handed over the draft of the board's structure to the Madhya Pradesh government. After the work is started by the board, Kisan Mitras will also be made in each block. The main functions of the Board include training the staff associated with ATMA, arranging field visits for the farmers and exhibition and publicity. A strategy should be made to start various processing units with the help of farmers doing natural farming. Shri Devvrat also informed about the programme organised in this regard at Anand in Gujarat.

Better results from women's participation

Devvrat informed that three-fourth of the people doing natural farming in Himachal Pradesh are women. Apple mainly grows in Himachal. The taste of fruits has improved after adopting natural farming. Not only has the benefit of reducing the cost of agriculture been received, other farmers are also getting inspiration. Devvrat said that work should be done in Madhya Pradesh by taking it on mission mode with dedication and service. He will not hesitate to visit Madhya Pradesh again for this purpose.

It is worth mentioning that the Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat himself has set an example by doing natural farming in an area of 200 acres. He also urged the officers and farmers of Madhya Pradesh to come to Himachal Pradesh and see these works.

Guidance of Acharya Devvrat Ji will prove useful: Chief Minister Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that natural farming is necessary in public interest. It will be started as a mission. The farmer will be motivated to start this on one-fourth of his field. Just as a board has been formed for the development of natural agriculture in Himachal and Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh will also take this step. Special emphasis will be given on training. The staff associated with the “ATMA” project of the Agriculture Department will be trained. The team from Madhya Pradesh will visit Himachal Pradesh to see the successful experiments of natural farming.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that lakhs of people have heard and seen the telecast of today's workshop. This will help in the promotion of natural farming. The message has started to reach the farmers of Madhya Pradesh. The guidance given by the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, will prove to be important for the agriculture sector of Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also honoured
