Bhopal 18 April 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan planted saplings at Smart City Park with Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Sushri Meenakshi Lekhi, Archaeologist Padmashri K.K. Mohammed and NCC cadets of BSSS College. Chief Minister Chouhan planted saplings of Peepal, Parijat and Karanj. NCC cadets Aarushi Rai, Anuj Agarwal, George Musa, Divyanka Kulhare, Vaibhav Pardeshi and Prerna Ammana also planted saplings along with Chief Chouhan.

Importance of plants

Peepal is a shade giving tree and purifies the environment. It has religious and Ayurvedic significance. According to natural science, Peepal tree releases oxygen day and night, which is important for the environment. Apart from this, Peepal tree is also called Akshay tree.
