Chief Minister Chouhan Felicitated by the Backward Class Community of State
Bhopal 21 May 2022: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the most enjoyable work during my entire tenure as Chief Minister is arriving at the consensus on holding elections to local bodies with reservation for Other Backward Classes. We made every possible effort by passing a resolution in the assembly to hold elections with OBC reservation. With the formation of the Mandal Commission in the year 1977, the work in the direction of reservation of Other Backward Classes started. The previous governments in the state were not serious in presenting their side in the court. Our government has made every possible effort for OBC reservation. Other Backward Classes Commission was constituted for triple test. Ultimately, truth prevailed and the way for elections with the reservation for Other Backward Classes in the state was paved.
Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing the felicitation ceremony organised by the entire Backward Classes community of the state in the context of the historic decision given by the Supreme Court on Other Backward Classes reservation. In the programme held at the CM residence, Home, Jail, Parliamentary Affairs and Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Higher Education Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Minister of State for Horticulture and Food Processing and Narmada Valley Development Bharat Singh Kushwaha, Minister of State for Public Health Engineering Brajendra Singh Yadav, Minister of State for Public Works Suresh Dhakad, Member of the Commission MLA Pradeep Patel, MLA Smt. Krishna Gaur and office bearers of various backward classes organisations were present. Chief Minister Chouhan's wife Sadhna Singh was also present in the programme.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the Backward Classes Commission got constitutional status only on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi's mantra is "Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas." The Chief Minister said that our government is dedicated to the welfare and development of all sections and our motto is social justice with social harmony.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that ward wise report of triple test was presented by the Madhya Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Commission for the reservation of Other Backward Classes in the local bodies elections in the state. The report compiled factual information about the status of OBCs in each body. This logical report could be developed only on the basis of in-depth study of the members of the commission and the data compiled by extensive visits and surveys by the officers and employees of different districts.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that I was invited to Davos to make a statement on the international forum on the achievements of the agriculture sector in the state, but it was paramount for me to provide justice to the Other Backward Classes in the state. Protection of the interests of the backward classes is the priority of the state government. I cancelled my foreign trip in order to stand firm in the court again. The state government is fully committed to the social and economic empowerment of the Other Backward Classes. Now reservation will be available in local bodies according to the population. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the road map prepared by Madhya Pradesh to provide justice to the Other Backward Classes will be followed by other states.
Madhya Pradesh Other Backward Classes Welfare Commission Chairman Gaurishankar Bisen said that the protection and development of Other Backward Classes is the priority of the Commission. The report submitted by the Commission is a symbol of the will power of the State Government. The commission will be continuously active for the rights of Other Backward Classes. Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh and MP Khajuraho VD Sharma also addressed the programme.
