Bhopal 29 May 2022: President Ram Nath Kovind has said that Ayurveda means (Aayu ka Gyan) science of age. Ayurveda not only treats the disease but also eliminates it from the roots. Today, it is time to give the traditional knowledge of Ayurveda to the world after meeting the scientific criteria and refining it on technical parameters according to the needs of the present time. The world is ready.
President Ram Nath Kovind, today inaugurated the 59th session of the All India Ayurveda Mahasammelan in Ujjain. He also virtually inaugurated the building of Government Dhanwantri Ayurveda Medical College. On this occasion, Governor Mangubhai Patel released the souvenir of the Mahasammelan ‘Amrit Kumbh’. Chief Minister Chouhan honored five Ayurvedic medical experts Vaidya Banwarilal, Vaidya Manoj, Vaidya Rakesh Sharma, Vaidya Jaiprakash and Vaidya Gopaldas Mehta with the honorary title of ‘Ayurveda Maharishi’. He presented ‘Life Time Achievement’ award in the field of Ayurveda to Vaidya Devendra Triguna.
President Ram Nath Kovind said that commendable work is being done in the field of Ayurveda medicine and research in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Chouhan has special interest in Yoga and Indian system of medicine. He has expressed his desire to start a big research center related to Ayurveda medicine in the state. After discussing this matter in the conference, its form should be decided. I am sure that Madhya Pradesh will become a favourite destination of Ayurveda medicine under the guidance of Governor Mangubhai Patel and in the leadership of Chief Minister Chouhan.
President Ram Nath Kovind said that India lives in villages. Even today the traditional medical system of the village is Ayurveda. He has no option. Chief Minister Chouhan and Governor Patel are both land-based leaders who come from a rural environment. Madhya Pradesh will become a major center of Ayurveda medicine in India.
President Ram Nath Kovind said that I have old memories associated with Ujjain. I am familiar with the streets here. Ujjain is the city of Yoga-Vedanta, Parv-Utsav, religion-philosophy, art-literature, Ayurveda-Astrology. This is the land of Maharishi Sandipani, Krishna-Sudama, Lord Mahakal, Mangalnath, Samrat Vikramaditya, Mahakavi Kalidas, Bhasa, Bhavabhuti and Pandit Suryanarayan Vyas. I bow to this pious and holy land again and again.
President Ram Nath Kovind said that the All India Ayurvedic Mahasammelan was established in the year 1907 at Nashik on the banks of Godavari. Today its 59th session is being held on the banks of Kshipra. Former President Giani Zail Singh, Pranab Mukherjee and former Prime Minister Atal Vihari Vajpayee have participated in this conference. Today I am honored to be a part of it. Hope the results of the Mahasammelan will be beneficial for the country and the world.
President Ram Nath Kovind said that Ayurveda is a simple and easy way to lead a happy and long life. Ayurveda tells us how people can be happy and healthy by following proper diet and daily routine. It has been told in Charaka Samhita that washing hands, feet and mouth before meals is the way to avoid diseases. This education proved to be very effective during the Covid period. In Ayurveda, ‘Bhojanam and Bheshajam’ means food is medicine, if you take proper food, it keeps you healthy.
President Kovind said that research, documentation and certification is must in the field of Ayurveda for the all-round development of Ayurveda, for its protection and expansion, public awareness, quality education, preparation of qualified doctors and for making its treatment comprehensive and affordable.
Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that Ujjain has been witness to glorious cultural and historical activities since ancient times. The arrival of President Kovind in Ujjain is a matter of happiness and pride. The system provided by Lord Dhanvantari to keep human beings healthy through Ayurveda through penance and research is amazing. In the Corona period, India’s struggle against the global epidemic became more effective on the basis of this ancient medical practice. The positive results of Ayurveda are in front of the whole world.
Governor Patel said that there is a need to encourage certification and standardization in Ayurveda on the lines of modern, scientific systems of medicine. For this purpose, it is necessary to increase clinical trials. In the field of Ayurveda, it is necessary to take scientific analysis on a wide scale and bring its results to the society and ensure their widespread use in public welfare. Governor Patel also highlighted the curative potential of Neem and Ginger.
Governor Patel said that tribals have good information about the effect and usefulness of herbs traditionally. It is necessary to use this knowledge for the welfare of the people. He said that it is my belief that sickle cell anemia existing in the tribal society can be definitely treated with Ayurveda and Homeopathy.
Governor Patel said that Ayurveda is not only a medical system but a philosophy of life. The direction and guidance shown by All India Ayurveda Mahasammelan will be helpful for the welfare of the entire human society.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while welcoming Vaidyaraj, Ayurvedacharya and Acharyas from different provinces of the country including President Ram Nath Kovind said that Ujjain, the holy land of Maharaj Mahakal, is the land of Gyan, Bhakti and Karma. From here the inspiration of actions for public service is continuously received. Referring to the Ayurvedic tradition that has been created for centuries in Indian culture and environment, Chief Minister Chouhan said that Ayurveda along with the four Vedas has always had importance in Indian knowledge, tradition and way of life. Recalling his own childhood, he told that the entire health system in the rural area was based on Vaidyas. Vaidyas used to diagnose diseases by conducting pulse tests and using locally available medicine and diet. Even in the family system, the information about treatment of simple diseases with household materials was also available to women.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Ayurveda is a complete system of treatment without any side effects. Based on diet, yoga, pranayama, pulse test, balance of Vata-Pitta-Kapha, this system is based on the formula of Mita-Bhuk, Hita-Bhuk and Rita-Bhuk which means, eat lesser than your hunger, eat what is beneficial for the body and eat what is produced in the seasons. Following this formula has proved helpful in keeping the humans healthy. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the belief of Indian tradition that “Jaisa khaye anna, waisa bane man’” has proved to be authentic with the test of time.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that in order to increase immunity during the difficult time of Corona, the distribution of kadha and yoga-se-nirog programme proved to be effective. It has been proved that there is no better medical system than Ayurvedic form of medicine. There is a need to increase study and research in the field of Ayurveda. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee started work in this direction. Under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, important and coherent work is going on in the direction of study and research on a scientific basis at the national level.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that every possible effort would be made to promote Ayurveda, Yoga, Pranayama, study and research in Madhya Pradesh. According to the direction and guidance shown by All India Ayurveda Mahasammelan, activities will be conducted in the state. AYUSH budget will be increased in the state. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Rogi Kalyan Samitis would be formed in Ayurvedic hospitals of the state. This will help in expanding the activities conducted in Ayurvedic hospitals. The AYUSH wings that have been set up in the district hospitals of the state will be made more well-equipped. The methods of Panchakarma will also be included. Chief Minister Chouhan said that now only AYUSH officers will give permission to Ayurvedic doctors to open clinics.
Chief Minister Chouhan appreciated the activities conducted by Pt. Khushi Lal Sharma Government Ayurvedic College and Institute of Bhopal.
President Kovind inaugurated the Mahasammelan by paying floral tributes and lighting the lamp on Lord Dhanvantari’s portrait. President Kovind was welcomed by Vaidya Devendra Triguna, President of the General Conference and the First Lady Savita Kovind was welcomed by Vaidya Tanuja. Vaidya Devendra Triguna delivered the welcome address. Vaidya Ranjit Puranic proposed the vote of thanks. Terming Chief Minister Chouhan as Ayurveda Purush, he praised the Devaranya Yojana started by the Madhya Pradesh government for the conservation of medicinal plants.
