Governor reviews activities for treatment management Sickle Cell Anemia and TB
 
Bhopal 07 July 2022: Governor Mangubhai Patel accompanied by officials of the Health Department reviewed the actions taken for disease treatment management of sickle cell anemia and TB. He called for disease treatment management with token-to-total strategy. Intensive investigation should be done by marking the area for disease screening work.
Governor Patel said that the direction of disease screening work should focus on the identification of the target group of the disease and on intensive screening. For sickle cell screening, identification should be done in Anganwadi centres, primary, secondary and higher secondary schools by setting up testing camps. All family members should be investigated in positive cases. The same approach should be taken in the examination of expectant mothers as well. Patel told to take initiatives related to tuberculosis treatment efforts by expanding the institutional treatment systems in view of the arrangements related to nutrition, regular drug intake in tuberculosis treatment management. He stated the need to conduct training program of ASHA workers in a phased manner. He said that priority should be given to the workers posted in the tribal dominated development blocks. The Governor directed initiatives on inclusion efforts by certification of alternative treatment methods and strengthening coordination with universities in public awareness efforts of the Health Department.

Governor Patel was informed that Madhya Pradesh ranks second in the country in community participation activities. Khargone district has been awarded gold and Ujjain district has been awarded bronze medal in certification works at the national level. In the Ayushman Bharat TB campaign also, the state has been awarded for the first position by the central government. Molecular testing facility is also available in all the development blocks of the state.
