Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while addressing the ministers, MLAs and media persons, said that if they inspire people to save energy, the wastage of electricity worth Rs 4 thousand crore per year can be checked in the state. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan called upon people at a programme organized at the residence of New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Dang for the presentation of renewable energy schemes.
While appreciating the programme organized for the presentation of departmental schemes by Minister Shri Dang and the doubts and solutions related to them, He said that all the ministers should also conduct such programmes related to their departments. Farmers of the state are becoming energy providers also apart from being food providers. Schemes including Kusum- ‘A’,’B’,’C’ will increase the means of income for farmers. There will also be reduction in carbon emissions.
Minister Shri Dang said that work is being done at a very fast pace in the field of green energy in the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. A target of 50 percent green energy production has been set for the state by the year 2030. Investors from the country and abroad are keen to invest in the green energy projects of Madhya Pradesh. Work is in progress on the world’s largest 600 MW Omkareshwar floating project. Not only will this save land, but it will also save evaporation of water.
Principal Secretary Energy, New and Renewable Energy Shri Sanjay Dubey gave a presentation of departmental schemes. He said that Madhya Pradesh would soon become the country’s first green ammonia producing state. Nearly 5,500 MW green energy is being produced in the state. In the last 11 years, there has been an increase of 54 percent in solar energy and 23 percent in wind energy. This has led to reduction of one crore tonnes of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to 17 crore trees. Many big and small projects are coming up in Madhya Pradesh. Innovations like solar, wind and battery storage will be made in Chhatarpur and Morena districts. With these, Madhya Pradesh, which is included in the leading states of renewable energy, will soon reach the top position.
