Take strict action against criminal elements for free and fair elections

Chief Electoral Officer Rajan reviews polls preparations of Gwalior and Chambal divisions
Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan on Monday reviewed the preparations being made to conduct Assembly Elections 2023 in a free, fair, uninterrupted and peaceful manner in Gwalior-Chambal division. Collector and Superintendent of Police gave information about the preparations.
Rajan said that strict action should be taken against people criminals in all the assembly constituencies of both the divisions under NSA, zilabadar and other prohibitory sections so that confidence is established among the common voters and they can use their franchise fearlessly. Rajan directed to organize voter awareness activities on a large scale to increase the voting percentage.
Rajan said that special 24-hour surveillance should be maintained at inter-state and inter-district checkpoints. Cash, liquor, drugs, illegal weapons and objectionable material should be seized by conducting operations. All investigation teams should be fully prepared and work with caution.
Rajan directed to make additional security arrangements in polling stations in vulnerable areas. People should be given the reassurance that the police and administration are ready for their safety by running special voter awareness campaigns in vulnerable areas.
Install CCTV cameras outside sensitive and ultra-sensitive polling booths also
Rajan said that concrete arrangements should be made for web casting of sensitive and ultra-sensitive polling booths. CCTV cameras should be installed inside as well as outside as per requirement in such polling booths.
Establish polling booths run by women and disabled people also
Rajan gave instructions to establish polling centers run by women and disabled officers and employees in every assembly constituency. The convenience of women polling personnel should be taken care of.
Voter help-desk number 1950 should be operated promptly
Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan gave instructions to promptly operate the voter help-desk number 1950 established in the districts. Rajan said that every call coming from voters at the helpdesk should be attended and the problem of the voter should also be resolved.
Take consent from those elders above 80 years of age who want to vote from home by filling Form-12D. Similarly, this facility is to be provided to disabled voters with more than 40 percent disability. In polling booths where there are more than 1500 voters, auxiliary polling booths will be created to provide convenient voting facilities to the voters.
Rajan instructed the District Collectors of both the divisions to send proposals for Sahayak Matadan Kendra and to distribute Voter Identity Cards (EPIC).
Inspector General of Police, Law and Order and Security Madhya Pradesh State Police Nodal Officer Anurag, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Rakesh Singh, Smt. Ruchika Chauhan, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh, Additional Director General of Police D. Srinivas Verma, Inspector General of Police Chambal Sushant Saxena and Deputy Inspector General of Police Krishnaveni Deshawatu were present in the meeting.
