Media co-operation is necessary for free, fair and peaceful elections - Chief Electoral Officer Rajan

Information about guidelines of Election Commission of India given in media workshop
Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that media has a very important role in the development of democracy. To complete an important task like elections, the co-operation of media is very essential. It is the responsibility of all of us to deliver real information to the voters.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan was addressing the media workshop on Thursday in the Golden Jubilee Auditorium of RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management, Bhopal. On this occasion, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Kumar Kaul, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Khatri, and other officers were present.
In the workshop Rajan said that the Model Code of Conduct for the Assembly Elections 2023 is being strictly followed. From October 9 to October 26, enforcement agencies (FST, SST and police teams) have taken action to seize illegal cash, gold, silver, jewellery, narcotics worth double the value of the previous assembly elections.
Rajan said that senior citizens and voters with more than 40 percent disability have been given the facility to vote from home. To increase the voting percentage in the state, various voter awareness activities are being organized and every possible effort is being made to increase the voting percentage. Rajan also called upon the media representatives to give wide publicity through their respective mediums to motivate the voters to cast their vote.
In the media workshop, national level trainer of Election Commission of India, Dr. Y.P. Singh and Prof. P.N. Saneshar gave information them to the media representatives about all the guidelines of the Election Commission of India regarding media and the points related to the co-operation expected from them.
