Former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma was Remarkable Personality: CM Chouhan

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the Former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma was a efficient administrator, great scholar and a person of remarkable personality. He played an important and leading role in freedom struggle and merger movement of Bhopal state. His role in development of country and public welfare is always inspirational.

CM Chouhan was addressing the statue unveiling ceremony of the former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma at Ret Ghat triangle in Bhopal today. Former Union Minister Suresh Pachouri, MP Alok Sanjar, Mayor Alok Sharma, MLA Surendranath Singh, P.C. Sharma, Mohammed Sagheer and other Public Representatives and son of Dr. Sharma, Ashutosh Dayal besides family members were present on the occasion.

Remembering the personality and accomplishments of former President Dr. Sharma, Chouhan said that he was a proud son of not only Bhopal but of entire India. His respect is our duty. We will make efforts to follow his foot steps. He mentioned that Dr. Sharma has played an important role to make Bhopal as capital of the state. He laid a foundation for Bhopal's development. Chouhan unveiled the statue of former President Dr. Sharma and paid floral tribute.

Former Union Minister Suresh Pachouri stated that Dr. Sharma has significant contribution towards establishment of several educational institutions in Bhopal and its development. He served on various posts with honesty, complacency and humility. His entire life is spotless. Remembering the works of the former President Dr. Sharma, Mayor Alok Sharma said that he played an important role in Quit India Movement. He further mentioned that the decision for removal of rotary from various traffic squares was taken for proper and smooth traffic system of the city.

Therefore, the matter was discussed with the family members of the former President Dr. Sharma for shifting his statue to other place. This place will be transformed into a beautiful garden. President Bhopal Municipal Corporation Dr. Surjeet Singh Chouhan proposed a vote of thanks at the end.-WTN
