Important Role of Youth to Achieve Sustainable Development’s Target

Bhopal: Group discussions held on subjects like Polity and Governance in ASEAN countries, Sustainable Goals of United Nations Organisation and I.T. Connectivity at the 4th day of India-ASEAN Youth Summit. Beside this presentations of various countries and presentations on commerce and trade activities were given by the Ambassadors of Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar and High Commissioner of Singapore. Also detailed discussions were held on Bhopal Declaration -2017 in the first session at the 4th day of the summit. Creation of rules based World Community, qualitative education, women empowerment and equality besides subject like unemployment are mainly included in the declaration.
Minister for Women and Child Development Madhya Pradesh Smt. Archana Chitnis presented her views on the subject Polity and Governance in the group discussion and deliberated with the participants. Smt. Chitins said that the youth summit has helped creating a uniform intellectual atmosphere in ASEAN countries. She further mentioned that Governance subject and its work area is very wide. Beside executive, voluntary organizations, civil society and several other components come under its purview. She informed the representatives of ASEAN countries about Ladli Laxmi Yojana, One Stop Centre, Udita Yojana etc. She replied to the questions related to functioning of democratic organizations, role of social media in government and efforts being undertaken in the direction of good governance.
UNICEF’s Representative to India Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque informed in detail about the sustainable development goals of United Nations Organisation during the group discussion today in the summit. Views in context to role of youth for achieving target of development were presented by the young representatives of the ASEAN countries in the panel discussion. They asserted for works towards resources, facilities, health, education and in the field of skill development. Moreover emphasis was laid on contribution by the community along with the government and persons with their personal capabilities for conservation of environment. Moreover, they also expressed their views for eradication of gender inequality and for encouragement to girls’ education.
Director General of Software Technology Parks of India Dr. Omkar Rai mentioned about the participation of youth in digital and I.T. connectivity and representatives of ASEAN countries presented their views on the subject in the summit.
Representatives of Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam gave presentations on activities being carried out in the field of youth welfare and youth development in their countries. Earlier to the presentation, national songs of the concerned countries were presented. Information in detail on positivity towards creation of broad and multicultural society in ASEAN countries was given in the summit.
Deliberations on commerce and trade in ASEAN countries took place in the summit in the afternoon. Ambassador of Philippines to India Teresita C. Daza, High Commissioner of Singapore to India Lim Thuan Kuan, Ambassador of Thailand Chutintarn Gongsakdi and Ambassador of Myanmar U Maung Wai gave presentations on economic relations of the countries and scope in expansion of commerce and trade activities during the next 25 years. Moreover, a detail discussion on scope of expansion of I.T. and BPO sector and 3-E (Education, Employment-Engagement) for youths took place in this session.
Representatives of Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei beside India are taking part in the summit being organized by the Union Ministry of External Affairs, Madhya Pradesh Government and India Foundation at Hotel Jehan Numa, Bhopal.-WTN
