Bhopal Youth Declaration Released in Presence of Union Minister for External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj
India-ASEAN Youth Summit Concluded 

Bhopal: India-ASEAN Youth Summit concluded in the Chairmanship of the Governor O.P. Kohli today. Union Minister for External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj as the Chief Guest and Youth Envoy of United Nations Smt. Jaithama Vikramnaike was present as the special guest on the occasion. Representatives of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and India participated in the summit held at Hotel Jehan Numa, Bhopal. Also Bhopal Youth Declaration was released on this occasion.

Governor Kohli on the occasion of concluding programme of India-ASEAN Youth Summit said that Madhya Pradesh has relations with South East Asian countries since ancient times. Sanchi is a symbol of peace and harmony among various countries. India and South East Asian countries have 2000 years old cultural, trade, spiritual and ideological relations. This relation has not been developed over the time by war or defeat-victory but this was developed on the basis of mutual love and other human requirements. People of Indian origin are in large numbers in Malaysia, Singapore and other countries today. Not only common cultural and civilization are heritage between the India and South East Asian countries but it also relates with security, peace in the region, stability and prosperity.

Kohli further mentioned that India has emerged as one of the fastest growing economy of the world today. Several remarkable opportunities are available for the ASEAN countries together with India for improvement in their economic condition.

Youths play an utmost important role in the development of the country. India has established its superior image on the basis of its youth power today in the entire world. Therefore, mutual association is necessary between India and ASEAN countries. He further mentioned that he hopes that 2000 years old relations will scale new heights and we will play an important role together to establish peace and harmony in the world. Governor Kohli also released a book titling “Vibrant Indo-ASEAN Leadership”.

Union Minister for External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj welcoming the representatives of youth summit said that youths have immense capacity for change. The changes came in the thoughts of Guatam Buddha at the young age gave a new direction to the entire world. The impact of his principle is universal and timeless. Youths have important role in governance besides policy formation and goals related to constant development at present. Several opportunities are available for youths to present logic, participation in implementation of schemes and in decision process. These possibilities give them an opportunity to do better for their country and society. Giving an example of Gautam Buddha, Smt. Swaraj mentioned that “Shanti Se Bada Koi Vardaan Nahi Hai”. Youths will play an important role to lead the world in the path of peace and development. She further said that Bhopal Youth Declaration will pave a way for strong friendship between ASEAN countries in future and constant development.

Youth Envoy of UN Smt. Jaithama Vikramnaike in her address said that success of constant development goals of United Nations depends on successful implementation of these goals in the ASEAN countries. Praising the creativity, innovations and initiatives of Indian youths, she mentioned that efforts being undertaken in the field of skill and competency development will establish new milestones. Union Minister for External Affairs Smt. Swaraj hosted a feast in honour of the foreign representatives.-WTN
