Egypt seeks advanced technical know-how to battle terrorism

Rome Dec 1 (IANS/AKI) Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Friday called on the international community to back his country s fight against terrorism by supplying it with "advanced technical know-how".

"We don t need direct military intervention we can do that ourselves " Shoukry told the Mediterranean Dialogues summit being held here from Thursday to Saturday.

What Egypt needs to combat organisations like the Islamic State jihadist group is "advanced technical know-how" from the world s militaries he said/

Citeing the recent example of November 24 terror attack in Egypt s volatile North Sinai province - claimed by IS - which killed 311 people including 27 children he said: "We need to step up cooperation with the international community to help Egypt because we are facing a common peril that must be tackled with the necessary force."
