Erdogan, Putin to meet in Ankara

Ankara Dec 9 (IANS) Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Ankara on December 11 on the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan the Turkish Presidential spokesman said in a statement.

The two leaders would focus on bilateral relations and international issues including the latest developments on Jerusalem as well as the current situation in Syria according to the statement Xinhua reported.

On Thursday the two leaders held a phone conversation to discuss the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel s capital saying the move would "negatively impact the peace and stability in the region".

Their last meeting was in Russia s Black Sea city of Sochi on November 22 where they held peace talks on Syria as the three guarantor countries with Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.
