30 civilians released, 8 militants killed in Afghanistan
Kabul Feb 20 (IANS) Afghan forces attacked a Taliban detention centre in Laghman province killing eight militants and setting free 30 civilians the Defence Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
"The security forces raided a detention centre of the insurgents in Dara-e-Sangar area of Alinegar district late on Monday and after killing eight rebels released 30 civilians who were held there " it said according to Xinhua news agency.
Arms and ammunition as well as four motorbikes of the insurgents were destroyed during the raid the statement added.
