Pakistan, Turkey conclude naval drill in Karachi

Islamabad April 10 (IANS) A four-day joint naval drill was conducted by Pakistan and Turkey concluded in Pakistan s southern port city of Karachi on Tuesday.

"The main objective of the exercise was to enhance interoperability between the two brotherly navies " said a press release issued by Pakistan Navy.

The joint drill covered a wide range of maritime operations encompassing anti-surface anti-air and anti-submarine warfare as well as maneuvering and communication exercises.

Counter piracy drills were also carried out in which boarding teams demonstrated practical boarding operations onboard a suspect vessel the press release added.

Officers from the navies of both countries praised the competence of the navies and expressed their satisfaction at the successful conclusion of the exercise
