12 killed in Afghan Taliban attack

Kabul April 12 (IANS) At least 12 people including a district governor were killed on Thursday in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan s Ghazni province a police official said.
"A group of Taliban militants attacked security checkpoints in Khawja Omari district at 3 a.m. triggering a fierce gunfight which lasted for hours " the official told Xinhua news agency.
Taliban militants have claimed responsibility and said that they captured the district headquarters.
