Iraqi parliamentary poll candidate killed

Baghdad May 7 (IANS) A candidate in the fray for Iraq s May 12 parliamentary elections was stabbed to death near Mosul city a police official said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday night after unidentified armed men pretending to be campaign supporters visited Farouq Zarzour al-Jubouri s house in al-Lazzaga the official told Xinhua news agency.
The men killed him before escaping the official added.
Al-Jubouri was also a teacher at Tikrit University in Salahudin province.
On May 12 some 7 000 candidates will compete for the 329 seats in the Iraqi parliament.
This will be the first general election since the Islamic State terror group was defeated last December.
