Taliban kill 12 policemen in Afghanistan

Kabul May 22 (IANS) At least 12 police personnel have been killed in clashes with Taliban militants in Afghanistan s Ghazni province an official said on Tuesday.
"Hundreds of Taliban militants launched coordinated attacks on Monday night triggering heavy gunfights lasting for hours. Fifteen other people were injured " Xinhua news agency reported citing a provincial government spokesman.
Several militants were also killed and wounded during the gun battle he added.
The Taliban militants have staged several coordinated large-scale attacks against Afghan cities and districts since launching a yearly rebel offensive on April 25.
