Imran Khan condemns Kabul rocket attack
Islamabad Aug 21 (IANS) Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday condemned the rocket attack in Kabul during a speech by Afghanistan s President Ashraf Ghani to mark Eid-ul-Zuha.
Afghan media reported that nearly 10 rockets landed in different parts of the Afghan capital when people were offering prayers.
Reports also suggested that at least three gunmen fired rockets on the Presidential Palace when Ghani was offering prayers there. No group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
"Targeting innocent civilians on religious festivals shows the defeated mindset. We stand with Afghan people and the government to defeat this coward mentality " Khan said in a statement.
The Pakistan Foreign Ministry also condemned the rocket attacks.
Rockets were fired two days after Ghani proposed a three-month conditional ceasefire with Taliban insurgents. However it remains in limbo pending a response from the militant group.
