Afghan forces recapture key district
Kabul July 17 (IANS) Afghan forces on Monday recaptured Helmand province s Nawa district from the Taliban after three days of military operations a Defence Ministry statement said.
"Afghan security forces regained the control of Nawa district and Taliban rebels after suffering huge casualties have fled " said the statement.
More than 50 militants were killed six injured and one arrested during the operations Xinhua news agency quoted the statement as saying..
The move ended the Taliban s nearly one year occupation of the district according to the ministry.
