Syrian army captures areas bordering Jordan

Damascus Aug 10 (IANS) The Syrian army and allied troops have regained control over areas bordering Jordan in Sweida province a top security official said on Thursday.
The Syrian forces captured all border checkpoints and police stations within the southern countryside of Sweida following battles with the rebels the official told Xinhua news agency.
Sweida has no official border crossings with Jordan as the official crossings with the southern neighbour is through the province of Daraa.
However rebels have established illegal routes to Jordan.
The official border crossings in Daraa are still under the control of the rebels.
