Militants shoot, injure SPO in Kashmir

Srinagar Nov 9 (IANS) Militants on Thursday shot and injured a Special Police Officer (SPO) in Jammu and Kashmir s Anantnag police said.
The incident occurred outside the District Magistrate s office in the south Kashmir town. The area was cordoned off for a search operation after the shooting police said.
SPO are youths engaged on a fixed monthly remuneration to fight militancy. In most cases they are inadequately trained and with no official weapons.
