Interim bail for Kannada editor on health ground

Bengaluru Dec 13 (IANS) A local court on Wednesday granted interim bail on health grounds to jailed Kannada tabloid editor Ravi Belagere arrested for allegedly hiring a gunman to kill his ex-colleague Sunil Heggaravalli in "Hai Bengaluru" weekly paper.

Accepting Belagare s plea for relief due to serious illness Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Madhusudhan granted him three-day bail till December 16 on a Rs 1 lakh bond with two sureties.

Earlier in the day Belagere was shifted to state-run Victoria Hospital in the city from the central prison after his health condition worsened due to breathing problem and other complications.

Belagare 59 was on Monday sent to a 12-day judicial custody after he was arrested on December 8.

Another local court had on December 9 sent Belagere to four days police custody for interrogation in the case.
