Wednesday - January 17, 2018 11:00 pm , Category : INDIA

New Delhi Jan 17 (IANS) Refuting the allegations of the CPI s Tripura unit the Union Home Ministry on Wednesday clarified that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was not present in any political meeting at the Home Minister Rajnath Singh s house on January 14.

"There is a well-established practice of Home Ministry holding regular morning meetings to review national security and public order " said the Ministry statement adding that these meetings are attended by senior members of the internal security establishment.

It said Doval and a few other officials were a part of one such meeting on January 14 at Rajnath Singh s house but "didn t participate in any other meeting at Home Minister s residence on that day".

The statement came after the Communist Party of India-Marxist asked the Election Commission on Monday to look into why Doval attented a Bharatiya Janata Party s (BJP) meeting where poll strategies were strategies citing media reports.

The Indian Express had reported that Doval attended a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders to discuss the forthcoming elections in Tripura Meghalaya and Nagaland.

"If correct this is a shocking violation of norms and serious misconduct " the party had said in a statement.
