Dalai Lama saddened by quake deaths in Taiwan
Dharamsala Feb 8 (IANS) Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has expressed sadness over the earthquake in Taiwan and wrote to its President Tsai Ing-wen expressing grief over the loss of life.
"I understand that every effort is being made to rescue the injured and provide relief to those affected by this tragedy " the Dalai Lama wrote in his letter to the President.
"I offer condolences to Your Excellency and to the families who have lost the loved ones " he added.
The Dalai Lama has visited Taiwan several times to deliver teachings.
Nine people died and 268 were injured in Tuesday s quake according to Taiwan s National Fire Agency.
The figures are expected to rise.
