Haryana orders probe into escape of juveniles

Chandigarh Feb 12 (IANS) A day after nine juveniles escaped from an observation home in Ambala authorities in Haryana on Monday ordered a probe into the matter.

Ambala Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur appointed Sub-Divisional Magistrate Satender Siwach as the inquiry officer an official spokesman said here. Ambala is 45 km from here.

The juveniles escaped on Sunday from their barrack and used a ladder to escape from the premises.

"As per a fact-finding report watchmen and one guard were found absent from duty " the spokesman said.

Director General of Police (Jails) has been asked to take disciplinary action against the erring officials.

The spokesman said some closed-circuit televisions were damaged earlier by the inmates to facilitate their escape.
