North Korean held for illegally entering India from Bangladesh

Kolkata Feb 17 (IANS) A North Korean national was arrested by the BSF from West Bengal s North 24 Parganas district and handed over to police for illegally crossing over to India from Bangladesh a BSF official said on Saturday.



"Jung Ho a passport holder of Democratic People s Republic of Korea was apprehended by troopers from Hakimpur on February 14 as he did not have a valid visa to enter India " the Border Security Force (BSF) official said.

"He has been handed over to Swarupnagar police station for necessary action " he said.

Ho said he had been living in Bangladesh since September 2015 to work for a North Korean pharmaceutical company Nam Nam Cooperative.

"He paid a tout to illegally cross the India-Bangladesh border after he was denied a visa to visit India by the Immigration Department " he said.

Ho has told the BSF that he wished to visit Kolkata.
